I was painting my nails and texting at the same time. and my phone froze up all of a sudden (Not from the nail polish though, it happens all the time) so I went to take the back off with my teeth cause it is hard to get off and I got the taste of the polish in my mouth. anyways, what should I do/What will happen?

    • ANSWER:
Nothing is going to happen. You're not going to die because you got a taste of nail polish in your mouth. Just swish/gargle some water and you should be fine.

  2. QUESTION:
How do you get nail polish and gum out of the carpet?
I have tried nail polish remover to try and get the polish out but it hasn't worked. Any Ideas? Also there is dried gum on the carpet, scaping is not getting it out. (By the way I have a 3 yo who made the messes, not me).

    • ANSWER:
How to Remove Grum out of Carpet

      1. Scrape away as much of the gum as you can using a spatula or spoon (to protect carpet fibers).

      2. Vacuum or brush away loose pieces.

      3. Rub the remaining gum with a plastic bag filled with ice until the gum is frozen.

      4. Chip away the frozen gum fragments using a spatula or spoon.

      5. Dissolve any final traces of the stuff by dabbing with a small amount of dry-cleaning fluid. Blot.

      6. Blot on a detergent solution of 1/4 tsp. mild dishwashing liquid and 1 cup (8 fl oz/250 ml) warm water.

      7. Rinse thoroughly.

      Overall Tips:
You can try this remedy to remove gum from clothes or shoes, too.

Some citrus-based products, such as Orange-Sol or De-Solv-It, break down the stickiness of gum so that it is easier to remove.

How to Remove Nail Polish out of Carpet

      1. Pour dry cleaning fluid over the stain.

      2. Blot with a dry, white cloth.

      3. Apply a small amount of mild liquid detergent to the stain.

      4. Blot again with the cloth.

      5. Flood the stain with water.

      6. Blot again with the cloth.

      7. Pour a small amount of ammonia on the stain.

      8. Blot again.

      9. Apply a little more liquid detergent to the stain.

      10. Blot again.

      11. Flood the area with water.

      12. Blot one last time.

      Tips:
Dry cleaning fluid can be purchased at a home supply store or a dry cleaners.

Always test the cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous area of the carpet before applying them to a large area.

Use a white cloth rather than a colored one to prevent any dyes from coming off on the carpet.

As you blot, keep turning the cloth so that you are using a clean, dry section to pick up the stain and the cleaning fluids from the carpet. Don't rub.

If using a brush to help clean the stain, always brush from the outer edges of the spill inward to prevent the stain from spreading.

      Warnings:
Do not use nail-polish remover as it may bleach the carpet

  3. QUESTION:
Why does my black nail polish get thick an gooey so fast?
I just bought a bottle of sinful colors black nail polish the other day. I painted my finger nails the day i got it and the next day when i opened it to paint my toe nails it was already getting thick and gooey. This is not the first time this has happend to me. I have tried black nail polish in all kinds of different brands and every single one i've bought does this. What i don't understand is why it does so quickly when the other colors don't.

    • ANSWER:
try putting it in the fridge, seriously my mum does this and I was like wtf it will freeze but it doesn't it just prevents them from doing this

  4. QUESTION:
Will putting Clear nail polish on a wart get rid of it?
I have a wart on my finger, and i've tried to freeze it off, it didn't work. But heard that putting duct tape or clear nail polish on it will get rid of it. Does it actually work?
Miss K, i've tried that three times, never worked.

    • ANSWER:
I haven't heard of clear nail polish but the duct tape will work. The reason why it will is because warts need oxygen in order to live. So suffocating it will make it go away. Clear nail polish is probably another way of suffocating the wart. This is what you do cut a little piece of duct tape place it over the wart. Make sure not to leave any air inside the tape. Then put a band aid over it to disguise the duct tape and help it go away. In about 3 days the wart should disappear if not try leaving it on for a week. Hope that helps!

  5. QUESTION:
Has anyone used clear nail polish and duct tape as a wart remover?
I've been to dermatologists to freeze them and have tried the at home freezer too with salicyclic acid but nothing as worked. Does the nail polish and duct tape really work?

    • ANSWER:
yes! you can try it but sometimes it works and sometimes it does not!
anyway you can remove warts by surgery, freezing, laser, acid or with cream but warts can reappear again and again because warts appears when your immune system is weak! so you must build up your immune system because your body can get rid of warts by itself if your immune system will be strong! so eat more healthy food, more vitamins and more sport activities!
(No smoking, no beer/ale, no booze, no drugs, no junk food, no fast food garbage, no sugary sweet soda's. Get on a good, balanced, healthy diet including plenty of boiled or steamed vegetables. Drink P L E N T Y O F W A T E R , fruit juices & fat free milk. Snack on lots of RAW fruit & veggies. Get up one hour early every morning & take a BRISK 30 minute walk - then - do the same thing again in the evening after dinner. Make sure you eat a good, balanced breakfast daily. You get your energy for the day from your breakfast meal. Get 8 hours sleep each night. Flip your mattress over so it will level out to give you a good night's rest. Slack off too much coffee & tea.)

HPV is the virus that causes warts. And HPV virus has many strains. In your case you have HPV virus strain number 2. People can be infected with HPV and never show any symptoms. Others will develop warts. These warts can stay the same size, grow, or go away on their own. It depends on the infected person's immune system. A healthy immune system means your body may be able to suppress the virus and not show symptoms.

also you should use some herbal treatment!

in that case Wartrol is a good (probably the best) product that gets rid of warts and makes you feel more confident knowing that they wont reappear again! it says that it is designed for Genital Warts but
it does not matter because warts are warts and wartrol works by stimulating your immune system to fight the HPV virus that causes the warts. of course it is better if you use full course (5 months - if I remember correctly).

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Wartrol but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.wartrol.com/?aid=749165

      good luck!

  6. QUESTION:
Can you apply nail polish to a plantar wart?
Has this method [of applying nail polish to a plantar wart] worked for anyone? I am kind of skeptical of trying it... Wont the nail polish harm your skin??

I've had this plantar wart for about a month or two, and I'd really like to get rid of it... It has a diameter of 0.5 cm (is that big??) Any help or info or remedies would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
If you have a plantar wart nothing is going to work on it but going to the dermatologist and either having it frozen multiple times, use a blistering agent, or cutting and burning it off and even then it may not cure it and they can always come back. The virus that causes warts stays active in the body for the rest of your life. Unfortunately warts on the hands and feet are the hardest to get rid of because the skin is so thick so don't waste your money on over the counter stuff, the freeze away you can buy is only about -50 degrees F but the Liquid Nitrogen you can have done at a doctors office is about -295 degrees. big difference

  7. QUESTION:
how do you remove clear nail polish from upholstery in your car?
I was thinking using nail polish remover, but someone said that could remove the color of the fabric.

    • ANSWER:
Use Dry ice and freeze that area and it will rest assure will break the polish away.No other solution

  8. QUESTION:
What chemical in nail polish makes it dry?
I have this "print" nail polish (stamp). I used the white one for White tips. Its turned out okay. It will not dry! I used the same thing for the fourth of July... it never dried and the worst part is, it got almost all over my pillow. I have tried alot of things. So I was thinking if I added that "drying" chemical to it. It would dry much faster. By the way, I can't purchase clear or base coat nail polish... Don't ask why please.

    • ANSWER:
I agree with the cooking oil post. A lady actually did that for me at the salon. (Weirdest salon ever though, I haven't gone back).

However the best thing that works for me with nailpolish that doesn't dry is to carefully put them under freezing cold water just for a little bit. Then if you can bear to leave them in front of a fan for a couple of minutes after that they should be hard as a rock!

After I do all that it usually takes an extra half hour before my nails are completely dry.

  9. QUESTION:
Is it possible to suffocate planter's warts with nail polish?
I have recently discovered that i have planter's warts on my feet and i would like to get rid of them. The Duct tape I am using in currently supposed to be suffocating them, but it is not staying on very well. Since you can suffocate chiggers with nail polish, would it work? Also, would it keep them from spreading while I shower?

    • ANSWER:
you always can try but it will not work...

remember - you can remove warts by surgery, freezing, laser, acid or with cream but warts can reappear again and again because warts appears when your immune system is weak! so you must build up your immune system because your body can get rid of warts by itself if your immune system will be strong! so eat more healthy food, more vitamins and more sport activities!

Where can I find discontinued MAC nail polish colors?
Don't suggest eBay because I have not had any luck there for months (saved searches do a lot of the work for me). The color I want is quite old. It is called "Pink Freeze" and it was in the old bottle style with the square bottom and thin handle.

Are there any distributors or online stores that have supplies of discontinued MAC nail polishes?

    Thank you in advance.

    • ANSWER:
Please do not use acetone or nail polish remover as this could make matters much worse.
Try freezing the area with a bag if ice and then see if the glue will chip off. Hopefully this will work without removing any colour from the leather.
Hand sanitizer contains alcohol and old cause further damage depending what type of leather you have

Does clear nail polish get rid of warts?
I know its disgusting but...i have a wart on my hand. I tried to freeze it off with two different brands but it didnt work. I herd clear nail polish works..so does anybody know if that acctually works...and does anyone know any other ways to get rid or them?

    Thanks in advance!

    • ANSWER:
I starred your question because I've had this problem. I went to a foot doctor because it turned out to be Plantar's wart and I got a prescription (although it's in the medicine aisle anyway) for wart remover ( with Salacytic Acid) I used it every night for about 3 weeks and the warts turned black and then came off.
To avoid this problem don't walk around barefoot on linoleum floors that could be dirty.
When I went to the doctor I was already limping because of the problem. After 2 days they started to hurt less. Just use it every day. (Yes I missed a few)

But I am very interested if your solution will work!

(Update) I agree with Melissa. I had a friend that used the one with the pads to cover the medicine and she said it worked great too!
Here's a link to Walgreens for all the wart medicines they use.

  15. QUESTION:
Tips for making my nail polish dry faster?
Are there any little tips that will make my nail polish dry faster?
I use OPI, and it seems to take a very long time to dry. It becomes "tacky" relatively fast, but actually dry nails really takes a while.

  16. QUESTION:
How best to preserve bugs—refrigerator or freezer?
I need to preserve some bugs I've collected. They'll be submitted as part of an insect collection in about seven months. Is it better to refrigerate them or freeze them until that time? Do I need to put anything in with them, such as cotton balls soaked in nail polish remover, to help preserve them? Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
The freezer will be fine. Just keep them in an airtight container so the freezer doesn't dry them out or give them freezer burn.

Otherwise you could 'mount' them, which is, put simply, drying the insects in certain positions to clearly display their form. E.g. with their legs or wings splayed. You've probably seen insects with pins in their backs? That's the end product of mounting. Once you have mounted them, keep them somewhere where other bugs can't get to them and eat them (e.g. airtight container) and/or put napthaleine/moth balls near them.

However, if you dont need to mount them, freezing will be fine. And if you do need to mount them at a later stage, just defrost them and then do it. For the 7 month period, this would be my preferred option.

  17. QUESTION:
What is the BEST way to remove scratches from an Xbox 360 disc?
There's this one part in the game, every time I go there (it's in NBA 2K11), it freezes. I noticed there are some light scratches on my disk and this is probably why it's always freezing at that point. What is the BEST way to get rid of the scratches? I've heard some ways like using toothbrush, just using water, using nail polish, heck even using peanut butter. But I wanna know the BEST way.

    • ANSWER:
I don't know any fool proof homemade ways to get scratches out. But some used video game places have a buffer that will get scratches out of games. I had one game that had a ton of scratches on it and it wouldn't play at all. I took it to a Game Crazy inside a Hollywood Video and the game looks almost brand new.

  18. QUESTION:

    • ANSWER:
The best way to do it is get someone who has the game to give it to you then you save that copy to your hard drive, that way the game is stored on your xbox and all you have to do is put the CD in so that the xbox gets verification that you own the game.

Some companies will even re-surface your discs for you but that costs money and takes a long time.

No matter what people say, there's absolutely NO WAY you can actually make scratches go away because that's where data was but now since those parts are scratched away

I'm looking for a product that dries the top layer of nail polish and is a similar formula and quality to Avon's Liquid Freeze drying spray. I would prefer to buy this product ONLINE if possible. What is the best product like this?

    • ANSWER:
I like Sally Hansen's nail drying topcoats. They really do dry all of your nail polish in about a minute. Leaves your nails shiny and chip resistant for around a week too :)

  20. QUESTION:
How do you Water Marble nails correctly?
Every time I try, the nail polish will spread and everything but when it comes to swirling it all around it doesn't work. It just gets stuck to the tooth pick and comes out of the water.
    What am I doing wrong?

    • ANSWER:
it sounds to me that you are leaving the nail polish in the water for too long before you use the toothpick, or it could simply be that the nail polish you are using isn't to fab. It is best to use fairly new polishes, because old ones freeze up in the bowl too fast.

      but here are the steps

      1) Apply a base coat to your nails. This will help the polish adhere to the nails and keep the design lasting longer. Once the base coat is dry, put scotch tape around the skin surrounding your nails to prevent a mess.

      2) Take out as many colors that you want in the design. This is rather polish consuming, so choose carefully.

      3) Fill a bowl with filtered water. Make sure it's room temperature, or keep the water out for an hour or two.

      4) The marbling process will ruin the bowl. Select carefully.

      5) Choose a polish and take out the wand. Don't try to remove the polish drop on the tip of the brush. Hold it over the bowl, and the drop will fall in, and quickly move across the water's surface.

      6) Do the same with another polish, and drop the polish in the center of the other polish.

      7) Keep alternating until desired levels are achieved.

      8) Taking a toothpick, divide the design in two.

      9) Make as many lines in the design as wanted.

      10) When done, dip nail into bowl, and take out.

      11) The design should be printed onto nail.

      12) Repeat steps for all the other nails and clean up around them with a cotton bud dipped in polish remover.

      13) When dry, apply top coat.

Removing Skin Tag, How long does it take for Polish to kill it?
I have been putting on clear nail polish for a while and still nothing is happening, they said be patient but I need to know, has anyone tried it, and if you did how long did it take for it to fall off? Please help me and a lot of other people who ask this same question a lot. Thx a Ton if you really help us out here. :) :( :/ :|

    • ANSWER:
I've not heard of nail polish for skin tags, I thought that was for warts.
I had a Dr remove several from my back a couple years ago, he used liquid nitrogen and a q-tip. That makes me think you could probably use that freeze away kit on tags as well.

What is the best, non painful way to remove skin tabs?
I tried a few things to remove skin tags including using tea tree oil, nail polish remover and apple cider vinegar. I don't have the nerve to tie them off or cut them off. Is there any remedies that are not painful to remove these skin tabs?

    • ANSWER:
i HAVENT tried one of those wart freezing things you can get at the pharmacy. i have a THEORY they might be helpful, but i cant be too sure.

tying them off wont keep the suckers from bleeding like mad. i have removed a few from my husband and best friend (can you say UNCONDITIONAL LOVE) with the finest in ruby bladed scalpels (i worked at a coroners office a bit in college THATS why i have them) and no matter what you do to try to make them not bleed, believe me, they are NOT on board with your plans.

best thing to do, honestly... just go to the dermatologist if they bother you that badly. trying to remove them yourself by subpar means (i have an autoclave to sterilize my tattoo equipment so i threw the scalpel in there to sterilize it completely) give you a greater risk of infection, scarring... or just chickening out halfway through and leaving a literal bloody mess.

I tried a few things to remove skin tags including using tea tree oil, nail polish remover and apple cider vinegar. I don't have the nerve to tie them off or cut them off. Is there any remedies that are not painful to remove these skin tabs?

    • ANSWER:
How to Get Rid of Skin Tags

A skin tag, medically known as a cutaneous papilloma or an acrochordon, is merely a small sliver of skin, a benign skin tumor larger and generally flatter than a wart. Except for those tags which hang by stalks (peduncles) like earrings and give the appearance of melting skin, tags make it look as if the victim is growing soft, fleshy scales.

      Skin Tag Removal

skin tag removalTags are surgically removed with a scalpel, electrocautery, or laser. They can also be tied off with thread, thus cutting off circulation and causing them to wither and drop off. And they can be destroyed cryogenically (freezing them). There are also natural oils available commercially that claim to eliminate tags.

      Anal and Vaginal Skin Tags

An extremely common condition, anal skin tabs (tags), are a completely different story because these shapeless lumps and flaps of skin or flesh found at the anal verge are usually associated with other anorectal problems. In fact, they are usually the result of a prior anorectal insult or injury such as the acute swelling of an external hemorrhoid that has not been treated. (Learn how to get rid of hemorrhoids)

Anal skin tabs may be indicators of a more serious rectal ailment that needs medical attention. Anal fissures, for example, small tears in the anal canal, are often associated with sentinel tags – skin tags located at the inferior border of an infection or injury. Tags may also be indicative of a blocked anal gland.

Cleanliness can be a problem with anal and vaginal skin tags. Fecal debris may become trapped under the tag; the problem is multiplied if there is more than one, and infection is possible.

Though anal tags are generally asymptomatic, it’s possible for them to itch, be painful, or cause anxiety or hygienic problems. A proctologist may use an anoscope to identify the cause and also search for other lesions. These would then be removed and biopsied to confirm they are benign. If the tags are small, local anesthetic is injected before excision. Lasers used to eliminate them simultaneously resurface the anal area, thereby producing good cosmetic results. If tags are extensive, the surgery may have to be performed in an operating room under general anesthesia. Either way, the surgery will cause pain postoperatively.

  26. QUESTION:
Car is releasing a lot of visible smoke through vents with really bad smell?
Well its 35 degrees outside & noticed this morning. Even when the a/c, heater, fan, etc is not on the car is giving off this really bad smell like electric fire or nail polish remover? This actually made my nose bleed, so should I be worried?

    • ANSWER:
Sounds like the heater core is leaking. Electrical wires and nail polish are two very different smells to me and if I'm right it would be a sweet smell if the core is leaking. Check on the carpet to see if it is wet under the heater or it may leak out the A/C water vent under the car. Look at the anti freeze level and get it fixed it is probably not something you can do.

  27. QUESTION:
Tips to picking out a good coconut?
So for the 2nd time in my life I got a fresh coconut, hoping to make a coconut cake for my hubby. I had an easy enough time getting it open and the milk out, but the milk tasted like nail polish remover, and the coconut flesh wasn't much better. I grated the flesh and rinsed it, then sprinkled with sugar, and toasted it but it was still kind of nasty. The 1st coconut I ever bought was exactly like this as well. There obviously is no way that coconuts are supposed to taste like this, so does anyone have tips on how it should taste, or how I should go about picking out a coconut that doesn't taste like ass? I hate buying the gross packaged coconut, and would love to have an alternative.

    • ANSWER:
      Hi !!!
HERE YOU GO...I LOVE fresh coconut, too!!!

      Buying a Fresh Coconut

      Three eyes of the coconut.
The coconut user who has access only to dehusked nuts at the market needs to be alert to indicators of freshness of the nuts on offer. Choosing a nut requires care, because the edible portion is completely concealed within the shell. The first thing is to feel the weight of the nut - if it seems "light" compared to others there will be little water left inside. Select only a nut which has, on being shaken, a robust splashing sound indicative of plenty of water. Next examine the soft eye, seeking advice on how to distinguish it from the two "blind" eyes. Remember that the shell is usually slightly raised around one side of blind eye. Note also that there are three "stripes" on the nut, which come together between the three eyes. The angle between the two stripes closest to the soft eye is much wider than the other two angles. If the embryo is exposed or protruding in any way through the soft eye, reject the nut as infection and spoilage of the kernel is likely. Infection which enters through the soft eye spreads very quickly inside the cavity of the nut. The nut water and the inner surface of the kernel make this a very favourable place for "bugs".

Look carefully for any discolouration on the soft eye when choosing a nut -it is normally covered by a circular dry brown disc. Look at the whole nut for signs of patchy staining which might have come about if there is a fracture in the shell allowing moisture to seep out. "Old" nuts have a greyish look instead of brown. Fresh mature nuts have a shelf life of perhaps two months at moderate or low temperature. The delay between collection from a farm and presentation in an urban market can sometimes be longer than two months, and a proportion of nuts is generally unsuitable for consumption. The vendor faces the same problems as the buyer and may have difficulty screening out bad nuts. So buyer beware! Nuts from the Caribbean are marketed in USA, Canada and Europe in a plastic shrink-wrap package with an opening above the eyes. This has the purpose of extending the shelf life by slowing down evaporation of the nut water. Wrapping might also reduce the access of decomposing organisms to the kernel via the minute channels through the shell that fibres connected to the palm were attached to during development. Arguably a nut with a "coat" of fibre is less prone to bacterial invasion than a nut that has been scraped clean. In the future a processor may devise a means of sealing the shell and soft eye so well that the nut has a greatly-prolonged shelf-life.

Cool storage suppresses the activity of micro-organisms, keeping the nut fresh for longer, and freezing has been shown to work on a small scale. The value of the nut is probably not high enough, however, to justify freezing by the marketer. Defrosted kernel is softer, having lost some of the crispness of the fresh kernel. This makes shredding in a blender or juicer
      easier.

*******HERE IS HOW TO CUT THE SHELL NEATLY SO THAT YOU CAN SERVE DRINKS IN THEM...
      *******

Here’s how to open them, and it’s quite simple:

First, you need to have a nice big heavy cleaver. Not the thin-as-a-razor kind you can get in so many shops, but a big meat cleaver meant for hacking through bones - one with plenty of heft. Henckels has a fantastic one that I use, and I’ll show it to you in a bit.

Now, put that coconut on a cutting board, on it’s side, and give it a really good whack with the cleaver, straight down into one of the slopes which leads to the point at the top of the coconut.

Hopefully that whack broke through into the inner shell enough so that you can now turn the coconut upside down over a bowl, and let it rest and drain out all the wonderful coconut water. (If it didn’t, give it another good whack, and another if necessary, until you can drain out the water.)

A small young coconut can contain as much as 1 1/2 cups or more of coconut water.

Once all of the coconut water is drained out, if you have the right cleaver for the job, like my Henckels, you can turn the coconut back on its side, insert the cleaver back into the slit you made, and actually just work the cleaver down, straight across the top of the coconut, neatly slicing off the tip, and opening up the coconut straight across - it will now look like a cup (in fact many Asian restaurants do exactly this, serving a coconut-based drink in this ‘cup’).

  29. QUESTION:
How to get clear nailpolish off a carpet?
Yesterday i spilled top coat on my carpet. since its clear i figured i would not be able to notice it but it left a big hard part in my carpet (dark green carpet)! How do i get it out? Will nail polish remover work or should i use something else?

    • ANSWER:
so you don't discolor the carpet you can use ice cubes to freeze it and then scrap it off with your fingernail or with a not-sharp knife. Play with it a few times and eventually it will come up.

If you used polish remover you'd take the color out of the carpet and you don't want to do that.

  31. QUESTION:
I am making a soda tab necklace that is painted?
I am making a soda tab necklace that is painted with nail polish. I am using newspapers to paint them on so the floor does not get nail polish on them. But when i let them dry they get stuck to the paper and the paper wont come off. My question is what can i put the wet soda tabs on so they can dry and not get stuck?

    • ANSWER:
You could recycle a food carton. A piece of a frozen or refrigerated food box -- the waxy kind -- would do nicely. You could also use waxed paper or freezer paper (the shiny side) from the kitchen. If you have a sewer in the house, you may even be able to get a piece of the release paper from fusible web. Good luck.

  32. QUESTION:
How to Remove Permanentmarker from a plstic tub?
Ya. I tried mr. clean magic eraser, toothpaste, alcohol, nail polish remover.

    • ANSWER:
damp rag & bar of Lava soap.

I label plastic lids in black permanent marker before freezing. When washing container & lid, rub the wet dishcloth on bar of Lava soap to wash off the marker labeling; rinse.

This method also removes Kool-aid, coffee/tea & yellow mustard off my kitchen counters.

  33. QUESTION:
How can I get super glue stains out of my dakine backpack?
sooo i just bought one of those mini dakine backpacks for a whole whopping and decided to be stupid and put rhinestones on it with super glue. The problem is they keep falling off and whenever i reglue them it looks worse and worse and the glue seeps out from under it and it looks really trashy and bad and i already tried using nail polish remover and it didn't work sooo is there anything i can do or anywhere i can take it to get it out?

    • ANSWER:
The only safe thing I would try would be to freeze your empty backpack, and see if you can pop off the glue spots. Don't use that stuff again! There are some great puff-paints that would work on that material - ask at your local hobby store.

  34. QUESTION:
Is it possible to create ice at above 32 degrees F?
So I have seen a science video on how someone made snow by boiling water with nail polish remover. Can I do the same without any special equipment? Also, out of curiosity, can you create ice above 32 degrees F?

    • ANSWER:
since ice has a lower density than water that is just above freezing, it is not possible to change the freezing point of water by adding pressure - in fact compressing the density would actually have the reverse effect - and cause ice to melt. To create ice at temperatures above 32 degrees would require pressures of tens of thousands of atmospheres.

so in short, the answer is no.

  35. QUESTION:
how can you get nail glue out of a pair of jeans, without the jeans fading?
i spilt nail glue on my NEW jeans.. and they are dark so i don't want to use anything (nail polish) that might fade the colour.. so i don't really know what to do.

    • ANSWER:
freeze ur jeans then pick the glue off when its frozen

  36. QUESTION:
if i were to freeze nail polish remover would i get acetone.?
anti drugs laws are getting bad, and getting non polar solvents is almost impossible, but i was thinking, nail polish remover contains acetone mixed with other ingredients. but if i froze my nail polish remover and filter would that be pure acetone?

    • ANSWER:
If you want to separate the acetone from the other ingredients in nail polish remover you will need to do a fractional distillation. Any basic organic chemistry lab will have the necessary equipment. The low boiling point of acetone would make this a rather simple procedure to carry out. Freezing it won't work. The mixture will freeze together as a mixture and not provide any separation. As much as many scientists would like it, fractional freezing is not a viable technique.

As far as using the acetone as an organic solvent, it doesn't make a very good one because of the ketone functional group. There are very few reactions that actually use it as a solvent.

  37. QUESTION:
How do I avoid/get rid of the smell of nail polish in my room?
I really want to paint my nails, but whenever I paint my nails, the smell stays for days. I have one window but it's freezing outside and my room is so small. I have a fan but that won't do any good since the window can't be opened (my parents don't allow me to open the window at night) so how do I get the smell out?

    • ANSWER:
      Ideas:

      * Use room spray or maybe even perfume

      * When you paint your nails, paint it in the bathroom with the fan on and take a shower right after

      * Paint your nails in the morning or afternoon, not at night

      * Open your window during the day

  38. QUESTION:
How come we're not supposed to use wart remover on moles?
My friend just got some "easy removal" wart remover stuff to remove this really dark mole that she doesn't like, but on the bottle, it says you can't use it on moles... but she did anyway...
what will happen? It's not the freeze kind. It's brand is Longs Drugs... and you apply it with a brush thing.. like nail polish...
so my question is, if you can apply it on warts, why not on moles?

    • ANSWER:
Warts and moles are completely different skin problems. Warts are irritations of the skin resulting in often multiple bumps, and are usually contagious. On the other hand, you are usually born with moles or get them later in life because of genetics. The stuff that your friend is using probably says to not use it on moles because first of all, moles are not a irritation, thus it will be ineffective. Second, on uncontaminated skin, some solutions may cause damage. If the bottle says not to, then don't.

  39. QUESTION:
How do i get rid of really bad warts on my fingers,?
i have 10 warts on my fingers altogether !

i have used all the freeze off products and i have put nail polish on them everyday and night to stop them breathing but they are still there !

my sister went to the doctors and asked about her little ones and they said that they can burn them of but it will take nearly 4 times for each wart ! and mine are worst then hers !

    i REALLY need help !!!!!!!!!!

    • ANSWER:
you can remove warts by surgery, freezing, laser, acid or with cream but warts can reappear again and again because warts appears when your immune system is weak! so you must build up your immune system because your body can get rid of warts by itself if your immune system will be strong! so eat more healthy food, more vitamins and more sport activities!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Wartrol but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.wartrol.com/?aid=749165

      good luck!

  40. QUESTION:
How can you make nail polish dry faster?
Sometimes even after hours and hours my nails aren't dry. Even with a nail drying liquid on top and quick dry polish!

    • ANSWER:
Paint very thin coats at a time, this will make each coat dry a lot faster. You'll have to paint more coats since the coats are thin but at least there isn't the risk of it stuffing up after you hit it on something.
Maybe the drying liquid you're using isn't a good one?
I use the revlon liquid quick dry
but another good one is the sally hansen insta-dry (i think?) something like that.

or prepare a bowl of cold water with a few ice cubes in it before you paint your nails. When you're finished wait a couple of minutes and then dunk all your painted nails into the cold water. This kind of freezes it and makes it dry faster.

  41. QUESTION:
How to make my nails and toes look professionally done?
I realised that if I cut and file them in a square shape, they look really good on me, and look like I've been to the salon. I want that salon look, but I want to do it at home to save money. Any tips? I have the basic tools, like long-lasting polish, clear top coats, file, and clipper. Try your best to prevent having me buy stuff, or expensive stuff.

-also, how can I stop getting air bubbles?

-I don't want one of those gel kits, I want my own polish colors

    -no rude/stupid answers plz

    • ANSWER:
Herro! I do nails lawl. :3
      Tips:
-please buy a base coat, it smooths ridges out and prevents discoloration.
-air bubbles happen when you.don't let the previous coat dry enough, or you're using too much polish
-to clean messes, use a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover.
      1) base coat
      2) color coat (apply thinly, it's ok if it.doesn't cover everything
      3) 2nd color coat, and if you want, a 3rd coat
      4) top coat
      5) Don't blow on it, let it dry on its own, or put your fingers in ice cold water to freeze the polish.
      Hope I helped!

  42. QUESTION:
Will freezing or refrigerating liquid foundation extend shelf life?
One of my local drug stores has a lot of makeup on sale for per item. I picked up 6 bottles of nail polish as I know it will last a long time. While I normally use powder based foundations, I couldn't resist trying some liquid foundation for so cheap. Some of the foundations were expired, but I looked and found one which did not expire for another 6-8 months. It is in a tube and has a little paddle brush attached for application. It is 1 oz. It is made by Revlon, their Age Defying Spa line. While Revlon still makes the Age Defying line, they do not make the spa one specifically, and not in that shade which is such a good match for me. Since I liked it so much when I tried it on, and it is so cheap, I would like to go back to the store and get all I can find of the non-expired tubes in my shade. But I am guessing it will take me a good while to use each tube. If I buy the tubes, put them in either my refrigerator or freezer unopened, and then pull out each one to use as time goes on, will I be able to use each tube for approximately 6 months after opening it? I could just write the new date on each one with a permanent marker to remember to throw it out after 6 months were up. I did see a similar question on here. Someone remarked that cold cannot stop the growth of bacteria, it can only slow it down, but you need heat to stop bacteria. Well, these will not be used until taken out of the fridge/freezer, so bacteria should not be a big issue. (I think mine was sealed so I had to take off plastic wrap, but if not, I can always dip the applicator brush in alcohol and let it dry before freezing/refrigerating). Another reason I want to do this besides bacteria is to keep it from spoiling and going rancid with any oil that might be in the product. I'm not sure how many tubes I can find. I am hoping for around 10-12 of them. Again, since it is so cheap, such a good color match, and the formulation seems to fit me, that is why I am considering doing this. That and the fact that it appears to be discontinued, so it isn't like I can just pick up another tube any time I want. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance, Heather

    • ANSWER:
They may be good, but I do not recommend stocking up on makeup. There's a reason WHY the store is trying to get rid of last year's inventory to make room for this year.

Each product have been formulated improved. Read ingredients. The FDA now required them to put labels so people KNOW what ingredients are safe. For more on cosmetics, visit the FDA website and search for COSMETICS. It's not about bacteria, it's WHAT'S inside the box.

  43. QUESTION:
Has anyone ever tried removing skin tags with nail polish?
I removed one once by cutting it off with sterilized scissors and there's now no sign of it, but I was wondering if anyone has tried the nail polish method and how long it took to work. I know skin tag removal is normally done in a Dr's office and that there is a "skin tag remover" you can even buy from the drugstore to freeze them but I was interested in a cheaper alternative and the idea of using scissors kind of creeps me out.

You can kinda numb it with an ice cube and snip it with the clippers,
You can get some silk thread and tie a knot around it and wait,

  44. QUESTION:
Will my frozen nail polish defrost?
I just ordered some new OPI and they came in today.
However, it is below freezing here in Chicago and the nail polishes are frozen solid from sitting outside for 9 ish hours.
Will they defrost normally? I don't want the new nail polish ruined from being in the cold.
    Thanks for any help/past stories!

    • ANSWER:
It should be fine if you leave it out to defrost. If it's a little thick you can buy some nail polish thinner for a couple dollars at a drug store, Target, Walmart, etc and add a couple drops and stir it around with the brush to bring it back to a normal consistency.

Buy a lot of cheap makeup from a discount store and let the girls go mad. Place the make up on a table with lots of mirrors - if you can, wrap christmas lights or similar across the top of the main mirror to make it look like a "real" make up mirror.

False eyelashes, also from discount stores, and false nails are fun too.

Grab a few feather boas and drape them around.

Serve pink lemonade (lemonade with a few drops of red colouring) in tall glasses with straws, paper umbrellas, and a frozen strawberry dropped in each glass.

As well as the standard chips and snack foods, make up a few platters of chocolate dipped strawberries and hersey kisses. Make other platters with tiny finger sandwiches, tiny meatballs, tiny cubes of cheeses, etc.. complete with toothpicks for picking up the items.

      And have fun!

How do you take off a skin tag without using any chemicals?
I have a tiny but really annoying skin tag on my arm, but I don't want to use any chemicals or go to a doctor and freeze/ burn it off. Is there an easier, less painful way to take it off at home?

    • ANSWER:
      Hi -

You can tie a piece of thread around the skin tag in order to cut off the blood flow. It will eventually fall off. Another method I've read about but I've never tried, some people have recommended putting nail polish on it and they say it will make it fall off.

      Good luck!
