Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Is it possible for a herpes rash to disappear in a day or two?
I occasionally get these pink rash-like spots on various parts of my body, such as legs, belly, shoulder, etc. They appear and then disappear in a day or two, sometimes in less than 24 hours. One of my previous sex partners had Herpes and didn't tell me about it, but I have had two HerpeSelect blood tests since and they both came back negative, and HerpeSelect is known to be pretty accurate.

Still these pink spots worry me a little, as I never really had them before. And these spots never have any blisters in them, and are completely painless. Sometimes they just fade away, and sometimes they fade into a bunch of tiny red dots before they fade, like a scratch mark would. But they always disappear in 1-2 days, usually 1 day or less.

Is it possible for herpes spots to disappear that quickly or it it most likely something else. Anyone have any ideas what it might be?

    • ANSWER:
What you describe doesn't fit the profile. I'd suggest you see your doctor about it. It may be a dermatitis of some sort, possibly allergy-based or a reaction to something you ingest. Have you added or changed any medications or vitamins/herbal supplements recently? Have someone take a picture of the rash when it's in full bloom and show this to the doctor.

  2. QUESTION:
My boyfriend has pictures of Kim Kardashian on his computer?
Sad I have to throw it out, herpes isn't curable. Not even my firewall protected my poor Mac.

  3. QUESTION:
what is the difference between a cold sore and herpes?
i was on Google and i came across a picture of a cold sore and another of herpes and they seem to look the same to me.so how would some one know the difference.

    • ANSWER:
Herpes simplex describes a cluster of "diseases" that are all related to the same virus- Chicken pox is one, cold sores and canker sores are another, shingles another (technicaly a second chicken pox outbreak) and the STD of herpes is another.
So, you are correct in that they look the same, they are just different "strains" of the same virus.

Just like the influenza virus comes in at least 2 strains that I know of, A & B- it's why it takes so long for the flu vaccine to come out each year- the scientists must decide which strain will be active before producing the vaccine.

      Hope this helps.

Since I got thumbs down for telling the truth, here's a link to the REAL facts as stated above.

  4. QUESTION:
how can you tell the difference between herpes and ingrown hairs?
    I an a 17 year old male,
A few days ago I noticed 2 big size bumps one on the right side of my penis and the other on the left side of my ball sack, I tried popping both of them but each one of them just gave out a clear liquid then blood, the next day they scabbed up and I notice another bump(but this one is half the size)right on the bottom left side of my tip. I am not sure if it is herpes or and ingrown hair, ive had plenty of ingrown hairs and boils but never on my genital area. id doesn't itch any more then usual and only time it hurts is when I try and squeeze it. My girl friend has recently just gotten tested and she was clean of any STDs so I'm not sure what it is???

    • ANSWER:
This website shows you pictures of STD's:
      http://www.avert.org/std-pictures.htm

and this one shows you ingrown hairs:
      http://ingrownhairpictures.org/

That you popped it and another one appeared isn't a good sign and it sounds more like herpes than an ingrown hair. With you girlfriend getting tested, that doesn't mean she doesn't have herpes. You need to have an outbreak and them they get some of the fluid from the blister to check if it's herpes, or you can get a blood test but if it's HSV1 then heaps of people have that anyway in the form of cold sores. So you can have herpes and never know about it because many people do not get any symptoms.

I have HSV1, my boyfriend and I were stupid and didn't realise that the rash on his mouth was herpes. Now we both have it. He'll get a tiny sore every now and then but never had a serious outbreak and I've only had one serious outbreak and then I haven't had any symptoms since.

Don't stress just go to your doctor and they'll be able to tell you what the bumps are. Having herpes isn't the end of the world.

  5. QUESTION:
What do the warts on my genitals mean?
They are not a lot, its just like 2 and they dont look anything like Genital Warts the virus, and i am NOT sexually active. what could it be? i am a girl.
My parents do not have STD's and the warts look like bumps. but they havnt always been there. just recently.
yeah i have and they dnt look anything like the pictures. im pretty sure they are not ingrown hair or a pimple. help please!

    • ANSWER:
Are you sure they are actually warts? Have you seen any pictures online of warts to compare what you have? Sometimes if a mother has herpes and she delivers vaginally it can be passed onto the baby. Even though you are not sexually active girls can also get herpes if a guy who has them on his lip (such as a cold sore) and does oral sex on someone can transfer the virus. Another way I can think of is if someone had a cold sore on their mouth and touched it with their hands and then transferred the virus elsewhere but I'm not totally sure if that's how it can be transferred. There can also be bumps like if there's an ingrown hair from shaving or even a pimple.

  6. QUESTION:
Is it possible for someone with genital herpes to have outbreaks several times a week?
I keep getting these (completely painless and with no visible blisters) little red scratch-like marks on various parts of my body several times a week and then they fade away in 1-2 days. I have had 2 blood tests for herpes that both came out negative, so maybe that's not what it is. But this is driving me crazy.

I have always heard that when people have herpes recurrent outbreaks can occur a few times a year but is it possible to have recurrent outbreaks several times a week?

    • ANSWER:
      http://genitalherpestreatment.blogspot.com/

.Anything is Possible with Herpes. For most people, the first indication of infection starts between two to 12 days after exposure to the virus. The development of Genital herpes symptoms may take longer or be less severe in some people, especially those who have previously developed partial immunity to the herpes virus from having facial herpes, e.g. cold sores.

Genital herpes Symptoms can start with tingling, itching, burning or pain followed by the appearance of painful red spots which, within a day or two, evolve through a phase of clear, fluid-filled blisters which rapidly turn whitish-yellow. The blisters burst, leaving painful ulcers that dry, scab over and heal in approximately 10 days. Sometimes the development of new blisters at the early ulcer stage can prolong the episode. On the other hand, the blister stage may be missed completely and ulcers may appear like small cuts or cracks in the skin. 7. QUESTION:
What does it mean when a guy calls you hot?
I met this guy at church and my friend/ his sister told me that he liked me. she told me he was talking on the phone with a friend and on facebookk looking at my pictures saying i was hot... what does this me? does this mean he wants to have sex with, wants me to be his gf, or just hot like in good looking? I dont think he wants sex or just my body because hes a christian and I THINK he believes "sex before marriage is wrong... i think.

    • ANSWER:
In God's eyes, sex is marriage. Sex is a physical manifestation of the communion of spirit, soul, and body of 2 become 1. The true meaning and satisfaction of sex come from an intimate act, shared with whom you truly love, and Trust most. Sex is a marriage in God's eyes. Thus, if both party intentionally consent to have sex, two become one in spirit, soul, and body, then congratulation, you are already married in the eyes of God. The public exchange of legal vow, the signing of certificate paper and party are merely secondary, those are man-made laws, according to cultures & customs which were created by men to protect the integrity of marriage using force / man made laws, which differ from country to country, culture to culture, and society to society.

Sex was created by God to foster a special relationship for commitment between a man and a woman, where a covenant is created between the couple and God. To betray that commitment of relationship, by having sex with another person/s, is to trivially treat sex (sin of fornication), and to dishonor that covenant with God, is to betray your promises with each other and God, and it is sinful and it is called sin of adultery in the bible. Fornication & Adultery are not worth the pleasure, the devastating implications it brings like mental illness eg. broken knots, unable to have satisfaction with only one partner, sex addiction ; as well as physical illness like STDs, HIV+, Herpes, warts (the last 3 are incurable life long diseases) plus any unholy actions are sinful and thus allowing demons to penetrate your life. Unknowingly, you will meet with "unlucky" events and eventually end up victim of your own choice. Because any sins will separate you from the blessing & protection of God, and giving the lawful right for Satan and its devils & demons, to have their way on you.

Thus, the answer is not whether first sexual partner should be married, but we are all commanded to respect sex because it is marriage. If for some reasons the couple could not hold on together anymore (for reasons of death or adultery) then either one can re-marry again (=finding a new sex partner again).

  8. QUESTION:
Can anyone lend advice on how I should tell my parents that I have herpes?
I am a 20 year old college student currently living with my parents until I can find my first apartment. I went to get tested just a day ago and my doctor called with the bad news. She told me that I tested positive for herpes type 2.

I told my best friend immediately and she told me that I have to tell my parents. I know I should because it's best for them to know and so that I have a way to get treated when I have outbreaks. I just can't picture it in my head. What am I supposed to say? "Mama, Daddy. I have herpes..."

I also am a "daddy's girl". He looks at me like I'm the biggest diamond he has ever seen and I just can't imagine how he'll look at me once he knows...I honestly just don't know how to say anything to them about it. I want to be honest. I planned on just sitting them down in the morning and telling them straight what's going on. I just keep imagining the worst.

Please be respectful of me. You don't know me and I don't know you. So let's not judge. Thank you so much.

    • ANSWER:
Now that you are an adult, your medical problems are none of your parent's business. Don't tell them. You're not lying to them, you're simply keeping private things private. Make a doctor's appointment for another reason, like a "checkup." Ask about herpes treatment. This is how most people handle this sort of problem.

      Your best friend is wrong.

  9. QUESTION:
How can i get over my ex boyfriend?
I know that the best possible way to do this is the 60 day rule.. but we go to the same school and we have practice after school together, we're also in the same group of friends... i'm only a sophomore and i've got 2 more years seeing this guy, there's no avoiding him!

    • ANSWER:
      You TALK to him

Avoiding him will make you think MORE of him (because you have to consciously avoid him)..
By talking to him, you'll think LESS of him... unless he gets too receptive with you that is.
Thats because the "connection" you had will be abscent, and him getting another girlfriend will be EVEN BETTER... find the biggest slut you know (make certain she has herpes) and slip her a .

But trust me, AVOIDING the problem make the problem WORSE. You need to ADDRESS the problem to get to acceptance, not hide behind lockers and in bathroom stalls.

If things get really bad, just throw a creame pie in his face.
Trust me, once you see how absurd he looks with creame dripping down his cheeks... you'll be able to picture that anytime you see him strolling down the halls...

  11. QUESTION:
What are these little blisters i get on the inside of my mouth?
They are on the inside of my bottom lip usually, and filled with fluid. I get them when I am under alot of stress but I dont know if they are stress related.

    • ANSWER:
they could be herpes( cold sores) or canker sores. Stress can cause canker sores. Usually harmless they go away on their own.

check out this link: here's a picture of canker sores.
      http://www.healingdaily.com/conditions/canker-sores.jpg

The cause of canker sores is uncertain, however associations with human herpesvirus 6, stress, food sensitivities and nutrient deficiencies have been suggested. Canker sores generally take 1 to 2 weeks to heal and may recur monthly or several times per year.

Canker sores usually begin with a burning or tingling sensation, followed by a bump or red spot which ulcerates. Occasionally, fatigue, fever, and swollen lymph nodes may be present in severe attacks. Recurrence of canker sores is common and may continue for years.

Over 50% of our population gets canker sores. 1/4 of our population has this virus but never gets any symptoms. This virus remains in the body even after an acute outbreak is over. Once the virus enters the body, it never leaves. This virus hides in nerve cells where the immune system's protective cells are unable to get to them. New canker sores outbreaks can be triggered by stress, other viral infections, exposure to excessive sun or wind, or anything else which depresses your immune system.

Canker sores are a symptom of a weakened immune system. Exhaustion and stress seem to play a major role in allowing the virus to manifeste itself.

  12. QUESTION:
What is your favorite brand of coconut oil or coconut butter?
    What is your favorite brand?

BQ: How do you like to use it? Recipes are also welcomed but if you don't have one, answer too!

    • ANSWER:
I was pretty impressed. It hardened (see first picture) after sitting at room temperature for a bit. It looked like coconut butter and it tasted pretty darn good. And I am very picky about the qualities of my ingredients. What I didn’t like was that it is grainy. Even after a turn in the high speed blender, I could never get the beautiful smooth consistency of the Artisana coconut butter I was comparing it to. But in a pinch, especially in recipes that the consistency would be covered up by other textures, it could work. And oh my, it is a fraction of the cost. My 16 ounces of dried coconut made over 2 cups. Probably the equivalent to a 10 ounce jar of the Artisana.

Some of the benefits of using coconut oil as your primary dietary fat include weight loss, prevention of heart disease, cancer and diabetes, strengthening the immune system, and protecting the condition your skin and hair naturally. The immunological benefits of MCFAs are reported in research conducted on the effects on AIDS, Diabetes, yeast and fungi, parasites, viral and bacterial infections. The lipid-coated viruses killed by the lauric acid present in coconut oil (48% of its composition) include measles, herpes, influenza, leukemia, pneumonia and hepatitis C viruses, and the bacteria killed by MCFAs include Streptococcus, Staphlococcus, Chlamydia, and Heliobacter pyloris. The health benefits of MCFAs have been known since the 1950s. Coconut oil and a manufactured product called MCT oil are still used in hospitals to treat malabsorption syndrome, cystic fibrosis, epilepsy, improve protein and fat metabolism, mineral absorption, are found in formulas fed to seriously burned or critically ill patients, in commercial baby formulas, and to nourish premature infants.

  13. QUESTION:
How long does birth control take to start working?
A friend of mine said it took a month of taking your pill daily for the pill to start "controlling birth". The medicine's directions said, however, that it only takes a week and that until that week is up to use other forms of controlling birth such as condoms. Which is right?

    • ANSWER:
It's 2 weeks but use it for a month just to be safe. You should also use condoms to avoid stds. Even if you don't think your partner has anything it's still better to be safe. Even if you get him checked out and he is clean he may cheat and get something and then pass it on to you. So be safe. I have a friend who got herpes from here boyfriend of 4 years and now on some days she can't even walk. You should google the pictures because that's enough to scare you in to wearing them. Good luck!

  14. QUESTION:
Is is possible fore someone who had herpes to be with someone who doesn't?
My boyfriend just told me he has Herpes after being tested last month. I really love him. We have been together for a little over 2 years and I really can't picture my future with out him. I however am not infected. I know my chances are high. I'm not sure of the precautions I have to take to be with him? Please help with a little advice! Is this possible?

    • ANSWER:
Hi YES of course it's not as if it's life threatening just uncomfortable and with precautions and if he takes valtrex daily as a suppression regime and using protection the odds of u contracting it will be low Ciao ♥

      Transmission of Oral Herpes
Oral herpes (usually HSV-1) has been detected in both the saliva and blood of patients with active oral infections. It is the most prevalent form of HSV, and infection is most likely to occur during preschool years. BUT ,Oral herpes is easily spread by direct exposure to saliva or even from droplets in breath. Skin contact with infected areas is sufficient to spread it. Transmission most often occurs through close personal contact, such as kissing. In addition, because HSV-1 can be passed in saliva, people should also avoid sharing toothbrushes or eating utensils with an infected person.
      _______________________________________________________________________
      Transmission of Genital Herpes
Genital herpes is most often transmitted through sexual activity, and people with multiple sexual partners are at high risk. HSV, however, can also enter through the anus, skin, and other areas.
People with active symptoms of genital herpes are at very high risk for transmitting the infection. Unfortunately, evidence suggests about one-third of all HSV-2 infections occur during times when the virus is shedding but producing no symptoms. In addition, only about 10 - 25% of people who carry HSV-2 actually know that they have the infection. In other words, most people either have no symptoms or don't recognize them when they a appear
To infect people, the herpes simplex viruses (both HSV-1 and HSV-2) must access the body through broken skin or a mucous membrane such as inside the mouth or on the genital area. Each virus can be carried in bodily fluids (such saliva, semen, fluid in the female genital tract) or in fluid from herpes sores. The risk for infection is highest with direct contact of blisters or sores during an outbreak Clear to brown /yellow discharge with or no odour is sure sign
Treatment.: .Valtrex (valacyclovir) can keep outbreaks to a minimum, a good diet also plays part ,together will trying to keep stress down,& plenty of rest.

  15. QUESTION:
I have a single ulcer like sore on the outer lip of my vagina. I haven't had sex in ten months what could it b?
it's about 2.5mm round and dark, blood colored around the edges. it's sensitive almost painful to the touch but not during urination or any other thing else. this morning it was simply a small red bump. I did pick at it a little but I left it alone the majority of the day. I've image searched tons of pictures of herpes but it's only one sore and it doesn't resemble anything like herpes.

  16. QUESTION:
Please help me find pictures to compare some blisters that appeared in the genital area.?
I suddenely developed these odd blisters right outside the opening of the ganital area, and as soon as I discovered them, I went to the hospital. They said they suspect herpes, but need to wait for test results. I have not been with anyone but my husband since we were both tested (2 years ago), and I know it's not from him because he is in the army and was just tested last month due to activation and getting sent overseas. I searched for pictures of herpes, though, and none of them look like what I have. I could really use some advice, maybe you know of a good site with pictures for identifying things like this. I've looked everywhere and checked things other than herpes, but nothing has even come close other than a couple pictures of the skin cancer melanoma, but these blisters developed only yesterday. Some are all white, some are multicolored white and grayish-black. Please help, I am very freaked out.

  17. QUESTION:
for someone with bothe types of herpes, do u still get all those lesions all over your body?
i see some pictures on google and they are pretty painful and agonizing, does one have a way of controlling where the sores and blisters show,if they are not one the lips or vaginal area?

    • ANSWER:
The pictures you see of people with 'herpes all over their body' either have impaired immune systems, because of something like hiv which means they cannot deal with the virus, or they actually have shingles on their body rather than herpes type 1 or 2.

The third possibility for having herpes on normal skin, such as the arm, neck or body (herpes gladiatorum), or the finger (herpes whitlow), is being exposed to herpes through broken skin for whatever reason. For example, it used to be common, before latex glove, for dentists and surgeons to get herpes of the finger, through contact with a patient's oral cold sore. Wrestlers can also get herpes on the arm or neck if their skin is abraded and comes into contact with a wrestling partner's oral cold sore.

However, if you get herpes type 1 or 2 on normal skin, it stays in a very localised area - a small break out on the arm always in the same place, exactyl where you caught it - it does not appear 'all over the body'.

Some people do have herpes both genitally and orally.

They could get oral herpes type 1 as a child, and then later as an adult get genital herpes type 2.

Or, they could be exposed to type 1 both genitally and orally on the same occasion, and be unlucky enough to catch it in both places. This generally only happens when you have never had that herpes virus before.

In both those scenarios, they will just experience normal outbreaks genitally and orally, maybe at the same time, maybe at different times.

Once you have one herpes virus, say type 1 on your mouth - the common cold sore, you are VERY unlikely to catch type 1 somewhere else on your body. It can happen - it is known as auto-inoculation - but it usually only happens either during your first ever outbreak of the initial herpes infection, or during the first few weeks of infection with the virus. After this time your body starts producing antibodies to the virus you already have, which prevents you from getting it in a second location. It can happen after this time, but it is very rare, and usually happens to people who have impaired immune function.

If it is going to happen, while I have never heard of someone passing hsv-1 to their own genitals, you can rarely give yourself herpes of the finger if you insist on chewing your finger when you have a cold sore, or herpes of the eye if you pick your cold sore then rub your eye. So it is best to be careful.

However, 80% of adults have oral herpes, and spreading it around your own body is extremely unusual - and again, only usually happens soon after you first catch it.

Herpes will not spread spontaneously around your body. Oral herpes will not turn into genital herpes, genital into oral. Herpes is a very localised skin infection, and stays where you first got the infection - so if you get cold sores, you won;t suddenly start getting sores anywhere else because the virus doesn't just move around. If you have cold sores, only your mouth is infectious.

  18. QUESTION:
what's the difference between herpes simplex 1, herpes simplex 2 and gential herpes?

    • ANSWER:
The other two answers are incorrect.

They are two slightly different herpes viruses, but either one can infect either the genitals or the mouth.

Each has grown to be 'better adapted' to one particular area, but is just as happy to infect the other area. The only difference is that outside its preferred area, each virus is less likely to cause recurrent outbreaks. Symptoms are identical.

For example, hsv-2 'prefers' the genitals - although it can also cause oral herpes (cold sores). If you get genital hsv-2, it is more infectious than a genital hsv-1 infection or an oral hsv-2 infection. A genital hsv-2 infection might be infectious about 16% of the time, and cause 6 outbreaks a year on average, while a genital hsv-1 infection might be infectious 3% of the time and cause one outbreak every 2 years on average.

The symptoms of outbreaks of hsv-1 and hsv-2 are indistinguishable, however - neither causes more severe symptoms than the other, wherever the infection is located. In the absence of a prior herpes infection, both viruses are opportunistic and are perfectly happy to infect either the mouth or the genitals, whichever they come into contact with.

Hsv-1 (herpes simplex 1) 'prefers' the mouth. It causes 95% of oral herpes infections (cold sores), BUT it also causes MORE genital herpes infections these days than hsv-2 does.

If you have never previously had cold sores (usually caused by hsv-1 on the mouth) it is very easy for your partner to give you genital hsv-1 if they give you oral sex, even in between cold sores. That is why 73% of new genital herpes infections among young people are caused by the so-called 'oral herpes' virus, hsv-1. Only a minority of genital herpes cases - between a third and a quarter - are now caused by hsv-2.

People often think hsv-1 is the 'good' herpes virus, the 'mild' one that causes cold sores (and that a genital herpes infection is always more severe than an oral herpes infection). It isn't. Oral hsv-1 is the most infectious form of herpes you can get - it is infectious around 18% of the time. A genital herpes outbreak is no better or worse than a cold sore on the mouth. Only the location is different, whichever virus causes it.

I have genital hsv-1. I caught it from my boyfriend, who gets cold sores on his mouth occasionally. He gave me oral sex in between cold sores, when we thought it was safe because he had no symptoms. It wasn't - there is still a risk of passing oral herpes on when no symptoms are present. Although genital hsv-1 is supposed to be milder, it is all subjective. For the first couple of years I averaged about 6-8 outbreaks a year, which is far more than most people get with hsv-2.

A genital herpes outbreak looks exactly like a cold sore. Like a cold sore, it can be so mild you can hardly see it, or it can be severe, but it is no better or worse. The pictures of genital herpes on the internet are worse case scenarios and first outbreaks. For a more realistic image of what a genital herpes outbreak looks like, search for images of cold sores and imagine that on the genitals, and you've pretty much got it.

As for genital herpes being 'worse' because of babies being able to catch neonatal herpes - well first, neonatal herpes is rare, about 1 in 200,000 births, despite 1 in 4 pregnant women having genital herpes. And it is also easily preventable now. It usually only occurs when a woman contracts herpes during the pregnancy. Oral herpes also has it's own side effects - as well as being a problem for people with immune problems, it can sometimes cause encephalitis if it goes on the brain, and is also very serious if caught by a very youg baby (through a kiss).

  19. QUESTION:
are pictures of patients having embarrassing problems taken secretly?
V get 2 c many pics of patients with genital warts, herpes, anal polyps & other diseases related to the private region..are they all taken with the patient's consent or are they shot secretly in clinics/hospitals?

    • ANSWER:
The federal privacy rules are so strict that the pictures are surely taken with the patient's permission. They are probably taken at major medical research facilities. Usually the pictures are shot so that the patient can't be identified -- you'll see the rash on their legs, for instance, but not their faces.

  20. QUESTION:
Could I possibly have a mild case of shingles?
I caught a cold last week, no fever. And I started noticing some mild pain in the muscle near my right shoulder blade despite the fact that I haven't done anything to cause strain there. Then I got a small red rash on my back. Only about 2"x 1". It doesn't itch, but it is slightly tender if you press on it. After a few days it seems to finally be fading in color and healing. I'm wondering if I should bother going to a doctor for this or not. Shingles isn't really dangerous and if that does happen to be my issue, it seems to be going away. But I'm concerned because I'm only 27 and I thought I was in decent health condition. This is the first serious cold I've gotten all year. Shingles is something that flares up in people with weakened immune systems, right? So does this sound like shingles or something else?

    • ANSWER:
I disagree with "Mason". Although a herpes zoster outbreak is less common in children, teens and young adults, it certainly can happen because it has.

You gave a very presentation of your "case". Thank you. You'll be glad to know that you didn't describe herpes zoster.

"Shingles is something that flares up in people with weakened immune systems, right?" -- No, this isn't so. Chicken pox is caused by a virus called varicella-zoster virus, VZV for short. VZV belongs to the herpesvirus family so once inside the body, it's there for life. Once chicken pox resolves, VZV retreats into spinal nerve tissue and goes dormant. It's not entirely understood why VZV reactivates at all. It's believed that stress may have something to do with it -- physical stress like illness and psychological stress (mental or emotional). But dormancy and reactivation are characteristics of all the viruses in the herpesvirus family -- varicella zoster virus (VZV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2).

Because herpes zoster, or h. zoster, is a reactivation of a existing virus and is NOT the result of an initial infection (do you follow me?), no person can have an outbreak of h. zoster without having had chicken pox first at some point in time. The initial infection caused by VZV is chicken pox, the reactivation of the same virus (VZV) is herpes zoster.

A h. zoster outbreak doesn't start as muscle pain. Remember, this virus is in nerve tissue, not muscle. It begins as a tingling, burning pain and usually on one side of the body as the reactivated virus moves out along a spinal nerve pathway. The tingling and burning become a red, raised rash that is usually on one side of the body, often the trunk, and wraps around from front to back like a narrow stripe. The rash turns into blisters that break open, drain and crust over. This is the same rash seen in chicken pox only it's limited to the path of a nerve instead of being all over the body. Instead of the trunk, the rash can appear on one side of the neck or face because spinal nerves service these areas too.

"So does this sound like shingles or something else?" -- Something else. BTW, colds don't usually cause fevers. This seems more like a local skin reaction than anything else.

"I'm wondering if I should bother going to a doctor for this or not." -- Of course, if this is your decision, go. But by the day of your appointment, the rash may be completely gone and you'll have nothing to show your doctor, unless you take several pictures now from different angles and distances (for perspective). In my opinion, there's no pressing need to seek medical care for a rash that appears to be healing. But if this happens again, take the photos. And if you really want to get technical, measure the rash when it first appears (some one else will need to do this for you). Length is measured up and down, from head to toe. Width is measured from side to side (left to right). Use a ruler with centimeters and record it in cm's. A clear plastic ruler is best and hold it under the rash in the photos for size reference. Record also what the rash feels like - smooth (flat), bumpy (raised). And the color. Basically everything you wrote here plus a bit more. Using a pen, draw an outline around the rash. The next day, if it's spread, it'll be obvious (take a new photo with the ruler in the photo and right under the rash) and you can re-measure it once a day up until the day of your doctor's appointment. You can give all this info to your doctor.

  21. QUESTION:
what is the best type of tortoise for the scotish envieoment ?
can someone help me i am looking for a tortoise for my brother . i live in aberdeen and it can be quite cold up here .cann anyone recomend a type of tortoise for the conditions

    • ANSWER:
I'm pretty sure you would be able to maintain a tortoise throughout the summer outside in scotland. I am aware of a few keepers who are able to. I would advise you get a tortoise that you can hibernate through the winter. Suitable tortoises would be russians/horsfields, hermanns and african spur thighed tortoises.
The tortoise would require both an indoor and and outdoor setup. If possibly you could get a cold frame for the outdoors that will keep your tortoise warm. However be aware that uv light cannot get through perspex or glass.
If you have ample room you could purchase a tropical species that wouldn't need to be hibernated. However they grow much larger than other species and it is always best that they have access to the outdoors as the uv light from the sun is far more superior than that from any uv tube/bulb.
Before you buy a tortoise a suggest you do plenty of research. As i think you'll find the general pet shop advice is completely inappropriate for their care.
First check out the caresheets on this site. They're extremely up to date and will save your brother money in equipment and vet bills.
      http://www.tortoisetrust.org/backidx.html
Next is an excellent tortoise forum. Feel free to ask as many questions as you wish. And check out the edible weeds section. You can actually feed your tortoise for free! Also the housing section will include pictures of other peoples setups.
      http://www.shelledwarriors.co.uk/forum/
Next is a great reptile supply shop. Check out the megaray bulbs which although seem expensive are great value for money. Their uv output is high for significantly longer than uv tubes and will last for 2 years.
Please also make sure you do not buy a tortoise from petshop as they are all foreign imports. All will carry parasites and possibly chelonian herpes which is a killer. The shelled warriors has plenty of breeders online. Feel free to contact them and ask if they have any available hatchlings. Hope this helps.

  22. QUESTION:
If a Man has Anal sex with a women with Stage 2 Herpes will he be infected if it was her first time doing ana?
A friend of mine has recently had Anal sex with a women with Herpes 2 WITHOUT A CONDOM. She says she has never had anal sex before, she also says that she wasn't breaking out at the time. But my friend told me that after extracting himself from her body he noticed blood on his penis.
He himself checked her to see if there were blisters, he is not a doctor so he was not sure exactly what to look for and where . I showed him pictures of outbreaks afterwards -they all were massive outbreaks- He says he would have noticed if she had what i showed him...

What are the chances that my friend is infected?
Could the blood be from a blister? or is it something common when experiencing anal with a large man for the first time? When should he get checked?
and if he is without a question infected, what are some recommended coping strategies?

    • ANSWER:
the coin is in the air, few chances but possible.

  23. QUESTION:
when people has genital herpes does it itch and bad odor?
Just curious? what are the symptoms of gential herpes.

    • ANSWER:
A genital herpes outbreak looks EXACTLY like a cold sore on the genitals - which is what it is (cold sores are outbreaks of oral herpes).

It may itch, just as a cold sores may, it may or may not be painful. You may get some localised redness and swelling, and often a cluster of tiny blisters or a small 'paper cut'. The outbreak often occurs in the same place. Symptoms usually go completely within 2-7 days (mine never hurt and take about 2 days to go). If it itches, it is only where the outbreak is - like an insect bite.

It does not cause discharge or bad odour. If you get thses, then you need to get checked out for bacterial infections and yeast, because it is not caused by herpes.

PS most outbreaks do NOT look like the pictures on the internet. They are the worst case scenarios and primary outbreaks. If you want a better idea what a normal outbreak looks like, google 'cold sore' and imagine the images on the genitals and that is what a normal outbreak looks like.

  24. QUESTION:
How can I quickly get rid of a cold sore???
I swear i dont have herpes
but i've had this cold sore for like 3 weeks
idk if thats normal but spring pictures are coming up and i need to get rid of it fast before i die! thank you...

  25. QUESTION:
This red bump has been on my lip for as long as I can remember?
theres a bump on my lips and its been there for soo long. It's kinda in the middle-left of my bottom lip. It kinda mskes my lips look uneven. It's honestly been there for as long as I can remember! therefore, i'm not sure if it weas just an accident or i was born with it....but i saw my pictures from 7 years ago, I don't have them!

    • ANSWER:
The HSV-1 or herpes simplex virus-1 and the HSV-2 or herpes simplex virus-2 are two forms of herpes that cause genital lesions. The HSV-1 is the one responsible for the blisters in the mouth area and the HSV-2 brings about lesions or genital sores around the anus area. People having suppressed immune systems, as a result of either stress, medications or infection, would normally experience longer and more frequent herpes outbreaks.

  26. QUESTION:
is it possable to have genital herpes but not on your penis?
i have small bumps ( 11 ) on my mid thigh to knee, i noticed these 2 days ago and since i took a shower and cleaned my legs they seem to be going away i dont have anything on my penis area i have been reading up on genital herpes and looking at pictures and thought i would have them where i was infected ?

    • ANSWER:
Genital herpes doesn't commonly occur away from the genitals, it's rare to have herpes away from the mouth. It could be just some irritation or dry skin. If you're worried about it see a doctor and have them test you for herpes, how ever if you have ever had a cold sore you will test positive for oral herpes.

  27. QUESTION:
What hair/eyes combination do you like better?
    what girl sounds prettier:

    1. long dirty blonde hair, gold/light brown eyes, thin, tall

    2. short light blonde hair, light blue eyes, thin, average height

yes, one of them is me. but i'm not saying which. but in your opinion, which do you like better?

    • ANSWER:
      Number one, I think.

Long hair is very pretty to me, as short hair is more chic, but too business-like for me. I especially adore long hair that's been very lightly curled. Here's are some pictures:
      http://i41.tinypic.com/j8nllh.jpg
      http://www.newhairstyles2010.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/8b6d0_hairstyle-ideas-for-curly-hair.jpg
      http://www.haircutshairstyles.com/img/photos/full/2008-07/blonde_curly_hairstyle87.jpg

And all the gorgeous hairstyles you can do with long hair - blond looks beautiful in many styles. Here's another picture:
      http://www.veganbride.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/wedding-hair-blond.jpg

And who doesn't adore golden eyes? Thin, tall, with a model/ballerina frame is a rare combination and you can't help but admire it.

But the blond hair-blue eyes combo fits into so many stereotypes that it's ridiculous. Average height isn't special; you can make adorable jokes if you're short, and have that frame I said if you're tall, but average is just smack in between and you can't have/do either.

But Number 1 just SOUNDS prettier. However, she can be a slouchy, with a muttering voice, insecure, library-obsessed girl who has no personality besides staying home and watching tv. This shows in her demeanor and she'll be like a "don't talk to me, I'm gonna give you herpes" sign to everyone who walks past. Number 2 may not have the features but holds herself up like someone who's done ballet since they were two, has a curious face that makes you want to talk to her, and a sparkle to her eye. She spends her time dancing and works as a piano teacher and french and math tutor in her spare time. This shows in her demeanor as well: a healthy, busy-but-not-stressed, and overall successful look.
Now which one do you think is prettier?

I think what makes a person pretty is not just their physical features but their personality. Whether they have substance or not. It doesn't matter if you have 6 years of medical training, or you're a classically trained violinist, or if you've just been through a lot of suffering. If you're SOMEONE, yourself, it'll show.

I'm guessing you're Number 2. It's a much more common set of features. But a pretty one too.

  28. QUESTION:
Do these symptoms sound like genital warts?
I have one tiny flesh colored bump on the lips of my vagina. It itches a little and my vagina has a bit of a smell but nothing too out of the ordinary. It doesn't hurt really either. I noticed it about 5 days ago and it has not gotten worse or multiplied the way it seems genital warts would. Does this sound like genital warts or perhaps a bump from a yeast infection?

    • ANSWER:
could be herpes or warts, the pictures are very graphic.

  29. QUESTION:
How is herpes spread and what are symptoms?

    • ANSWER:
Genital herpes is a contagious viral infection that affects an estimated 45 million Americans. To place this in a broader more mentally visible picture, genital herpes is affecting as many as one in every four people who are sexually active. There are an estimated 1 million new cases each year that are believed to occur. Genital herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).

There are two types of HSV and both can cause the herpes symptoms. HSV type 1 most commonly causes sores on the lips and is often referred to as fever blisters or cold sores, but it can cause symptoms of genital herpes infections as well. HSV type 2 is most often related to infections and symptoms of genital herpes, but it also can infect the mouth. The virus remains in certain nerve cells of the body for life, causing periodic symptoms of genital herpes in some people. Many people who are infected with HSV never develop any symptoms of genital herpes at all.

The infection is usually acquired by sexual contact with someone who has symptoms of genital herpes. People with oral herpes can transmit the infection to the genital area of a partner during oral-genital sex and result in symptoms of genital herpes. A person who is infected with HSV but has no noticeable symptoms of genital herpes can also transmit herpes infections. Such asymptomatic shedding of the virus may be fairly common, occurring from 5 percent to 20 percent of the time in infected individuals.

Symptoms of genital herpes in a primary episode vary widely from person to person. They usually occur within two to 10 days of exposure. Typically the symptoms associated with genital herpes that are recognizable involve small red bumps that may develop into blisters and open lesions. These “bumps” appear at the site of infection, which may be in or around the vaginal area, the cervix, the penis, urinary tract of both men and women, and around the anal opening, buttocks or thighs. Sores also may appear on other parts of the body where broken skin has come into contact with HSV. Over a period of days, the sores become encrusted and then heal without scarring. Symptoms associated with genital herpes in a primary outbreak tend to take longer to heal because the body has yet to build up an immune system resistance to the viral outbreaks.

Other herpes symptoms in a primary episode may include fever, headache, muscle aches, and swollen glands in the groin area, painful urination or vaginal discharge.

Some of the most common symptoms of genital herpes that are often misdiagnosed are misdiagnosed as yeast infection, insect bites, jock itch, urinary tract infections, abrasions or razor burn, ingrown hair follicles, and even hemorrhoids. If you suffer from recurring infections or symptoms of any of the listed conditions, it is advised to see a medical professional for observance and testing when symptoms occur. It is quite possible the recurrence of such conditions could actually be symptoms of genital herpes.

It is never safe to assume that condoms will protect you from a herpes infection and prevent you from ever knowing what symptoms of genital herpes really are. Condoms do not cover herpes infected areas in many of those infected with the herpes virus. The best way to protect yourself from every knowing symptoms of genital herpes is to practice abstinence. Getting to know your partner, engaging in proper STD testing prior to intimacies and being as completely honest and forthright as possible is the most assured way to combat a future infection.

With so many people who are infected with the herpes virus never showing any symptoms of genital herpes, the increase for proper testing is recognized and strongly encouraged.

If you are a person that suffers from symptoms of genital herpes, there are a number of treatment options available. Antivirals are available by prescription from your health care provider and a number of over-the-counter treatments are available and are affective in treating symptoms of genital herpes. One such

  30. QUESTION:
How to make a website? Is it expensive?
I want to make a dating/social media network for people like my parents. My mother contracted herpes when my Dad cheated on her a month ago and she's finding it really hard to find someone to date. I want to make a site solely for people who were unlucky enough to get this disease(and other diseases that can't be cuted) whether they were born with it, got it from someone they loved and thought loved them and everything else in between. I want this to be a safe haven for people with this common factor in their life.

I'm not sure if there are other sites for people like her but I want to make one that is very... modern. I want it to be a blend of CafeMom and Facebook.

Here are the features that I want:
    >I want the users to be able to make groups and post... well... posts in this group that others can comment on and that only group members can see. (This is a feature on CafeMom that I really enjoy)
    >I want people to be able to make a profile (Like the ones on Facebook) with their bios, what they're looking for, pictures, location and whatever else they feel they need to post.
    >They should be able to make their pages private and customize it to describe their personality and style.

These are the main features I want for the site.

How much does this cost? How do I make it?
I would advertise it with pamphlets left at clinics and support groups. But how do I advertise it online?

I reeeeeally want to make this website look... Modern. I don't want it to look like some cheap forum or anything because that isn't what it is. It's a social media network that should be used to find similar friends, people to date, support groups and... well.. Help. Because everyone deserves a place where they can feel safe and not judged.

PLEASE NO BASHING COMMENTS!! I really want to make this happen.

    • ANSWER:
This is obviously an important project for you and right off the bat, I can see a few things you're going to want to look for as you search for a company or product to help you bring this vision of yours to life.

      1. Security -- with individuals signing up, logging in and sharing personal data, you're going to want (need) to make sure that you offer a secure website. I'm not sure if build your own sites, such as Weebly, can provide this.

      2. Discussion Groups, Forums, Chatting - self-hosted WordPress sites may offer you these features. There are hundreds (thousands?) of plugins to help you with these.

      3. "Modern Look" - there are great templates out there, some customizable, but if you want to have something just your own, talk to a designer.

I have a few recommendations that may get you started in the right direction:
      1. Get yourself a "real" domain name and host your own site rather
      2. Look into a product called "BuddyPress" ...
      3. If you need direction, some web design companies offer free consultation and talking to one may be able to give you a better idea of what's truly involved in this site and how much it could potentially cost to build.

I wish you the best of luck!

Herpes type 1 from a Dental X-Ray for Orthodontics, PLEASE HELP !!!?
Can you get herpes type 1 (oral) from a dental x-ray where you have to bite small plastic piece in the X-ray machine? I had a sore in my inner lip after few days I took the X-ray and I am horrified that I’ve caught herpes. Do they clean that plastic piece after each patient?

    • ANSWER:
I really would hate to see if you could had been "infected" especially when the doctor/nurse SHOULD BE taking point of care with everything they used, being clean and washing hands and being very santized using brand new swabs and plastic pieces and stuff like that.. Who is to say that you may or May had not been infected that way..?? it will be hard to determine.. but if it was Herpes type 1.. You could of had the virus of herpes type 1 when you were a child like the majority of people.. or it could be a simple canker sore. you can go to google and type in canker sore and look at pictures (which I had once in the past from eating a extreme amount of salty food and somehow i got a bump on my inner cheek).. I would say you should go to the doctor and have them to examine the sore.. and they'll probably end up doing a herpes type 1 and type 2 test to determine if you had been infected. DONT TRIP OUT THO.. herpes type 1 is nothing.. I have it and never had a outbreak since i was like a child..but unfortunately, the virus is still in my blood..but the majority of people have it.. it is nothing to worry about! and noo most people dont take medication for herpes type 1 unless they had bad outbreaks but it is nothing to worry about!

  34. QUESTION:
Herpes! Can you get it when there is no outbreak from that person?
how long after will signs show? Im soooo stupid. Have to wait til monday for a blood test. Please help! Its been two weeks and no signs!

    • ANSWER:
After exposure to the virus, a 2 to 20 day incubation period ensues followed by the primary genital herpes outbreak. Only 50% of those infected will have significant enough symptoms to know they are infected, so you might not even show any signs.

Symptoms of primary genital herpes may include fever, headache, and muscle aches followed 3 days later by the classical rash (pictured) of painful blisters and ulcerations of the skin where the infection occurred.

  35. QUESTION:
What are these canker sore like infections on my tongue?
I have gotten these 2 sores on my tongue, along with a couple other blisters in random areas of my mouth, now, my girlfriend has gotten cold sores since birth, is it possible that me kissing her with a cold sore cause these sores to apprear? Heres a picture of my tongue

    http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/vv242/HookedOnHifonic/P6270046.jpg

    • ANSWER:
Yes, it is actually one of the many strains of herpes virus. It's not the virus that causes genital herpes, but it is similar... It's also extremely common, about 80% of people have them, so don't let the word "herpes" freak you out :P

In fact - you definitely do not want to have oral sex with your girlfriend while you have sores because she could actually get the same type of sores "down there" - as I'm sure you know, the soft pink skin in your mouth is very similar to the soft pink skin around the vagina - and the virus can spread to that skin too. So do her a favor and just don't go down there while you have a sore.

That being said, there is a fairly good remedy to get rid of them within a day or two. Mouth sores thrive on moisture and the virus will die very quickly if the area is dried out for a while. Mind you, it will burn pretty bad when you do it, but give this a try and when the sores are a LOT better tomorrow - come back and give me best answer :)

Take a piece of paper towel, tear out pieces that are about the size of a cotton ball and put it right on top of the sore. Hold it there for a few minutes... Whenever the towel starts to get moist, put another piece of fresh dry towel against it. Also, stick your tongue out (or cheek, or wherever the sore is) and inhale so the air you're breathing in dries out the spot. Keep doing this for about 20-30 minutes and make sure you don't let the sore get *any* moisture to it... Repeat the same thing every few hours and tomorrow you should see a marked improvement.

      Good luck!!

    • ANSWER:
      Bumps on Lips: Causes

      Inadequate Lip Care
The most common reason behind development of bumps and sores on lips is inadequate lip care. It is more often observed during winters when your lips become excessively dry and flaky. People who have the habit of biting/licking lips continuously are more prone to suffer from lip inflammation. Tiny red bumps appear due to lack of moisture, which might also bleed.

      Bilateral Infection
Bumps on lips can be itchy and painful. Itchy bumps on lips resemble blisters, which might result from allergic reactions and poisonous insect bites. Red bumps on lips often swell and are terribly painful. In another case, they might crowd in corners of the mouth and get filled with pus. If you observe these symptoms, then it could be a case of angular cheilitis. It is a medical terminology for an inflammatory lesion occurring at the corner of the mouth, also called labial commissures. The infection is bilateral.

      Spongiosis and Lichenoid Inflammation
Spongiosis and lichenoid inflammation also give rise to red bumps on lips. This type of infection lasts for 3-4 days and then disappears. The small red bumps on lips erupt again after few days. It is caused due to exposure of lips to allergens or oral medications.

      Fever Blisters from HSV1
Tiny bumps on lips can also be fever blisters or canker sores. These two are the most common mouth disorders that cause immense discomfort. Fever blisters, also called cold sores are highly contagious. They result from infection with herpes simplex virus type 1. Children are also vulnerable to this virus.

Sexual Contact with HSV 2 Individuals
Herpes infection might also be contracted from kissing, oral sex, and sharing drinks with people. Since it is a contagious virus, the infection spreads to people who come in close contact with the affected individuals. Herpes simplex virus A and B, both are responsible for spreading sexually transmitted diseases.

      Other Reasons
Similar bumps are noticed when you undergo stress and get exposed to sunlight for long hours. Women might observe this during menstrual cycles. Oral cancers, ulcers, and chemical burns also cause bumps on lips.

      Bumps on Lips: Treatment

      Ointments and Antibiotics
Treatment of bumps on lips depends upon the nature of bumps and the underlying reason. Topical creams and lip ointments can cure the irritation and soreness on the lips. There are ointments that relieve the pain, soften the crust of the sores, and numb the blisters. Antibiotics also prevent secondary bacterial infections. Lidex ointment is often prescribed by doctors for lichenoid eruptions.

      Surgery and Grafting
In serious cases, surgeries and skin grafts are also done. However, this is the last option to restore the original texture of lips by permanently getting rid of the bumps.

      Liquid Nitrogen Treatment
Liquid nitrogen is often used to treat lip bumps resulting from skin cancer. The blisters are burned by liquid nitrogen. The scabs and scars take considerable time to heal.

      Home Remedies
At home you can nourish your lips with coconut oil, cocoa butter, and aloe vera. Keep your lips moisturized with petroleum jelly to prevent it from becoming dry and flaky.

Avoid excessive consumption of alcohol and chewing tobacco. Doctors always suggest not to indulge in any kind of sexual acts with people suffering from sexually transmitted diseases. You should not apply chemical products on your lips if you are allergic to them. If you find any painful bumps on lips, do not neglect. Visit a dermatologist and get the treatment done before they aggravate.

  37. QUESTION:
According to statistics, nearly 1 of every 2 black adults has genital herpes.... What do you think about this?
    FYI: I'm not racist

On average, nearly 50% of black adults has genital herpes. What do you think about this?
Note: These are not my statistics. These were published in the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Courier Post. You can also look online if you want, Here's something similar:

    http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/07/25/herpes_awareness_ads_divide_officials/
BTW, this is just for American blacks, not blacks in the whole world

    • ANSWER:
Here are more stats for you since you enjoy them so much:

      - Nationwide, 45 million people ages 12 and older, or one out of five of the total adolescent and adult population, are infected with HSV-2 (Herpes Simplex).

      - HSV-2 infection is more common in women (approximately one out of four women) than in men.

      - Since the late 1970s, the number of Americans with genital herpes infection has increased 30%. The largest increase is currently occurring in young white teens. HSV-2 infection is now five times more common in 12- to 19-year-old whites, and it is twice as common in young adults ages 20 to 29 than it was 20 years ago.

      * * * *

So, what about these questions in addition to yours... why is it more common in women, why has there been such an increase in it among Caucasian teenagers? If you're going to play the stats game you should remember that statistics are only numbers and it's only when placed in the context of other statistics that you can even hope to see a fraction of the big picture. And the big picture here is that STD's are a problem that concerns *everyone*.

  38. QUESTION:
Is there any cure to cold sores?
im going back to school in 1 week and this morning i woke up with a cold sore! my school picture is on the first week as well. i put some zovirax on it this morning , but was wondering if there was any way to clear it up faster. Please help!

    • ANSWER:
Once you re infected you can never get rid of the virus, there is no actual cure , although there are a couple of vaccines in the works that may become available in the future that may prevent people from becoming infected in the first place.

      Cold Sore Home Remedy

      1. Keep the affected area clean and dry by washing it once every two hours with a damp washcloth and soap, being sure to use a new one each time and put the old one in the laundry.

      2. Melt an ice cube on it for about 10 minutes at a time once every 2 hours or so, this helps with the pain, irritation, and itching by numbing it plus it slows down the virus metabolism and makes it harder for the virus to continue replicating.

      3. Start taking lysine at 1000mg 3 times per day along with Vitamin C and B 12. Lysine (aka l lysine ) has been shown to inhibit the herpes virus while it’s active and to prevent it from becoming active when it’s in its dormant stage. Vitamin C also helps boost your immune system which is obviously helpful, and B 12 has been proven to reduce the duration of cold sore outbreaks in several studies.

      4. Apply witch hazel to the cold sore using a q tip once every two hours as well, benzyl alcohol may work better but it’s also harder to find. Some people also say that isopropyl rubbing alcohol works as well.

      5. You might want to put some carmex or other chapstick type of lipbalm on it that will keep the liquid from oozing out and making you more contagious to others.

How can i time pass on internet?
i have internet connection. but i want some intresting sites for time pass.... anybody can help me??

    • ANSWER:
      1. facebook people you don't know and act like you guys were best friends back in the day. Then mention that they look better with their clothes on, or ask them how they got over that bad case of herpes
      2. create a fictitious website that aims to convince ignorant people that the world is ending. See how many people you can get to follow you
      3. Get a friend to help you make inappropriate comments under a family orientated website or newscast. Respond to each other in the crudest way possible
      4. super impose a picture of someone’s butt over a model’s picture and make a facebook or myspace page dedicated to the butt-face. See how many friends you can get
      5. Try to sell something useless on ebay or amazon; like air. Tell people you have a fresh bottle, jar or can of air and see how many people you can get to buy it. You can also do this with other useless items like chewed gum and wrappers.
      6. go on craigslist for your city, peruse the personals adds. Respond to their emails with, “I’d love to get to know you, but I have to study for my blood test.” You can also respond with other phrases, but make sure that you try and keep contact with them.
      7. Find chatrooms and chat people up, after you have started a conversation, and told them you are hot. Find the ugliest picture of a person and send it to your new chat buddy

This should kill a couple hours for you if you are to try all of them, but if you need more, let me know

Where Can I Adopt An Orangutan?
Where Can I Adopt An Orangutan? Like Not Donate Money To One& Like Get A Picture Or Anything. Just Actually Buy One And Take Care Of Him/Her Myself. Like ACTUALLY Have Him/Her In My House. Where Can I Buy One In The Los Angeles Area? Or Maybe Have Him/Her Shipped Out? Please Help!

    • ANSWER:
You do not know what you are asking for. I had a 45lb monkey for 10 years. I wouldn't listen to anyone and insisted on getting him.
When they are young its fun, but they grow quickly. You really have to get them when they are a few days old. They need formula every few hours. They have to wear diapers. You have to poke holes in them and run their tail threw it. They also have to be put on backwards.
They require diets of strict nutrition. That means preparing meals for someone that's about 3 years old. Several times daily.
They poop alot and it stinks! their cages have to be hosed down daily. They have to be bathed daily also.
When they get sick, they have to go to a University where a Doctor who knows primates will work on him. No family vet or ER place will even allow the animal in the vet. They can carry Herpes, its naturaly in their bodies. If they bite a human they can get menagitis, and a vast other diseases.
A average vet trip was 3 hour drive, and at least 2,000
Most cities are not allowing it, and will take him from you.
      I think a Orangatain are about 30,000
I dont care how much love you give a primate, how well you raised it, they are wild animals, and become aggresive at times. They are 10 times stonger than a adult man. They can and will kill you, if you are not prepared, like if it got loose, or spooked.
They are highly inteligent and need to be mentally stimilauted all the time. That means provideing toys and stimuli on a hourly basis. If you dont they will start pacing or picking at them selves or biting their legs open. They have canines that are two plus inches long, and are like razors.
My monkey bit a teenager in the knee. He had to have stitches, and testing for months. It cost my homeowners isurnce several thousand. It cost me in money blood tests thousands.
The inclosure for the animal alone would rum 6,000. They can bust out of almost anything.
So you still want a primate? ps no one is shipping a primate to your front door. It doesnt work like that. You have to fill out applications, go threw interviews. provide a city permit, have your property inspected, then make a large down payment, and wait for one to be born, then drive to where it is being held. Would anyone throw a human infant in a cage and ship it? will thats what you are thinking. Total nonsense.

  43. QUESTION:
What is my chances of getting Herpes one time with unprotected sex. My GF and I have been fighting about this.
I had sex with my new GF about 10 times and we had a condom everytime, but one day we had a condom break I did not know until I pulled out. About a week later, she had her period. Days later she had some itching. She went to her doctor for a check up on all std's including HIV. She was negative, except for Herpes. She said the doc did not know which type, but she was positive. We do not know who gave it to who. She only had one break out and alleges she had never had a BF for 9 years since she has a daughter. I contacted my previous GF and she said she tested negative for everything. At this point, I am freaking out just like everyone else. We all have seen those horrible Herpes pictures. What I need to know specifically is what are my chances as a man getting Herpes from a woman that has never had a break out, she did not have any break outs and it was one time unprotected. I show no signs. I am still getting an exam next week. But I need peace of mind. Share those valuable stories!

    • ANSWER:
2 of every 5 people has herpes......you can catch it even with a condom, warts too are not prevented by condoms...............some epolpe have it and NEVER break out they just spread it..............some people never spread it................it is a virus and will do whatever it wants whenever it wants to whomever it wants and there is nothing you can do to stop it besides don't have sex ever. 2 out of every 5 is a high percentage so just deal with it buddy everybod has it

  44. QUESTION:
When do you see signs of an STD?
i hooked up with this girl last night. we had no condom so i was not going to go all the way with her. she gave me oral and our genitals rubbed together a little bit. i think she was pretty clean, seeing as most girls trying to hide an STD usually dont shave or are just not clean in general. but im still a tad worried (although i am a chronic worrier). right now everything on me checks out and nothing abnormal.

Am i just overthinking this one?

    • ANSWER:
'..most girls trying to hide an STD usually don't shave or are just not clean in general'..
was a 'tad worrying', in and of itself.

I wouldn't chalk this concern up to being a "chronic worrier". It's a valid, real, possibility that having unprotected intimate contact (including oral, vaginal and/or anal sex = all skin-to-skin contact) with another person, whom you don't know anything about may have resulted in you having contracted an STD. 'Over-thinking'..? No. Hardly.

There are various incubation periods for each STD, some that are easily missed or considered 'asymptomatic', some with obvious symptoms that may appear within 1 day or may take 2 weeks, 1 month, 90 days..even 6 months to experience symptoms.

Free condoms are available at any/all STD clinics..and they will happily hand you as many as you require. The next person you have unprotected sex with may contract whatever you may have contracted from this person..and that's pretty disturbing. Hopefully you have dodged a bullet with this last experience. You won't know for certain (unless tested at an STD clinic) for 6 months, however.

If you experience any symptoms, check the photo i.d. guides for identifying STDs (links below), and it's always best to get into a clinic asap when one experiences symptoms, for proper diagnosis and treatment.

      >genital herpes: symptoms occur within 1 - 2 weeks

      >chlamydia: symptoms occur within 1 - 3 weeks

      >gonorrhea: symptoms are sometimes asymptomatic = slight or undetectable
(when symptoms do appear; between 2 days to 1 month)

      >syphilis: symptoms occur at 21 days but may occur 10 - 90 days after exposure

      >chancroid: symptoms occur between 1 day and several weeks

      >scabies: 1 - 2 months for symptoms (within 2 days if already had scabies)

      >genital warts: symptoms occur within 3 months

      >trichomoniasis: women have symptoms within 5 - 28 days
(men may be asymptomatic/carry & transmit)

      >HIV: up to 6 months before initial symptoms occur

      >Hepatitis B: symptoms occur within 4 - 6 weeks

  45. QUESTION:
Can oral herpes be just a tiny tiny bump?
PLEASE ONLY ANSWER THIS IF YOU KNOW FOR CERTAIN!

I had a tiny tiny bump on my lip recently, and it went away within about 1 week or so. It wasn't blister-like, or like ANY of the pictures when doing a google image search of "Cold Sore" or "Oral Herpes."

You had to look really really closely to even see it. Could it still be considered to have been oral herpes? Or was it something else?

    • ANSWER:
Oral herpes, also called cold sores, can vary in size.
Sometimes they can be so large that it reaches up to your nose/cheek and somethimes so small that nobody can even notice it.
If its an actual cold sore youd be able to feel it. It gives you this burning, irritated sensation that's utterly annoying! It can even hurt the inside of your mouth and hurts to eat, kiss...even apply lip gloss.
Plus it should have the bump with the whitish middle and sometimes redness around.

If you don't have any of these symptoms then you can simply have a pimple under the surface. In any case don't bother it by touching or trying to pop it. Leave it alone and it will go away. If it persists for 2 more weeks go to a dermatoligist.

And by the way, most people get cold sores. Its very easy to catch and really its not a big deal. The people who don't have it most likely are resistant to it. Just avoid kissing, sharing drinks, sharing lipsticketc if you do have a cold sore so you don't spread it. Also, keep your hands clean so you don't risk spreading it to other body parts (like your eyes...or other parts, seriously). Keep antibacterial gel handy.

  46. QUESTION:
I have this strange blister on my private area?
ok, im 16 and im not sexually active at all and i just got this blister on my private area. it just started to get a little puss filled and its sore. im still a virgin so it cant be herpes or an STD. i talked to my dad about it and he has the same thing from time to time. is this a common thing that just goes away? and if so is there any way to treat it?

    • ANSWER:
PLEASE SEE ADDENDUM AT THE BOTTOM OF PAGE. I WAS UNABLE TO EMAIL THE INFO TO YOU FOR SOME REASON!!!
      Hello:
I need a little more information in order to give you a more accurate answer.
Where exactly is the blister located? Is it in your hair? Is is on the clitoris? Is it on the lips of the vagina? Top or bottom area?
I am assuming that you are female based on your picture.
Possibilities include folliculitis (a small infection of a hair follicle), a small abscess especially with the discharge, a bartholins gland infection/cyst. That is why I need to know exactly where the lesion is located.
Email me with more information and I can probably pinpoint what you have.
Hope to hear from you soon.
      Warren Shaffer, M.D

      Addendum:
      Hello again:
The new info you gave me tells me quite a bit. Now I am almost positive I know what it is.
It is either one of two things:
      1. an abscess (an infection under the skin, also called a boil). They are extremely painful to the touch and sometime ooze pus. If it is already oozing then you probably wont have to have it cut open to drain it. I would soak the area frequently in really warm water (hot but not hot enough to burn the tissue). Taking an anti-inflammatory medication may help with the pain and inflammation. Something like Ibuprofen (advil, motrin), Naprosyn (aleve). The over the counter advil is 200 mg. You can take three at a time three times a day but make sure you eat with it. It can be harsh on your stomach at those doses, but dont take them if you have stomach problems like ulcers or heartburn. If it continues to enlarge to the point where it hurts to walk, then you will have to have what is called an "incision and drainage" (I&D) and packing the hole with gauze.
      2. A bartholins or vestibular gland infected cyst. These glands are mostly located at the bottom part of the labia minora (the inner lips of your vagina). Again, this may need to be opened and drained too. But try the anti-inflammatory medications as above and hot soaks first. The treatment for both is essentially the same.
The only other thing it could be is a herpes infection an STD, so if you arent sexually active then herpes is ruled out.
      Hope this helps.
      Warren Shaffer, MD

  47. QUESTION:
Where can I get a VI peel in Ottawa?
I was wondering first of all if VI peels actually give good results for little hyperpigmentation on the skin and if it needs a long time before I can see these results. Also I wanted to know if anyone knows somewhere I can get it in Ottawa or if they are available here

PS: is it okay to go tanning after getting one? maybe a week or two after

    Thank you :) !!

    • ANSWER:
The sun and too much soaking in the tub or pool are SKIN'S WORST ENEMIES.

You want to get peel, and you want to ALSO damage your skin? I'm not getting it!
Tanning, is a result for 'damaged skin' and no products can reverse you from skin cancer or damaged skin, may prevent you from pre-mature aging, but that's part of the billion dollar beauty industry.

Take the Skin Picture Quiz - Identify These Common Skin Conditions on MedicineNet.

I had Discoid Lupus, caused from the sun. The corner section of my chin was affected. I've been protecting myself from the sun since age 9, so how I got it? Beats me! The fact is I got it! My dermatologist suggested lotions for me to try out, none worked. Suggested chemical peel, but she talked me against it. It took 12 years for them to fade away. If you look closely, I can see but the 'bruised bumpy purplish' mark is gone. It looked like someone punched my chin, before. I suggest you don't. It does more harm than good.

Chemical peel side effects can include:

      * infection
      * abnormal healing
      * allergic reactions
      * if prone to herpes, possible eruption
      * raised or thickened scarring
      * unanticipated skin color changes or skin blotchiness

      Additional considerations for deeper peels:

      * possible post-operative complications can include scarring, infection or abnormal pigmentation. Tends to have a bleaching effect, and patient may need to wear make-up to match treated and untreated areas.
      * skin pores may appear larger, and the skin may not tan properly.
      * can activate latent cold sore infections.
      * risk of delayed healing and scarring.

GOOGLE: Cyndie Lauper's chemical peel (image).

EXAMPLE from YA: How long does the blotchiness, peeling, and redness take to go away?
I did a lactic acid peel yesterday night and I think I put too much as i only did two layers of the chemical peel and now my skin is very blotchy, red, its peeling, and my skin looks worse!!! What should I do in the meantine? I don't think i can use my cleanser, only water because right now..my skin is so sensitive."

Melanoma is the leading cause of death from skin disease. An estimated 76,259 new cases of skin cancer will be reported particularly among women in their 20's & 30's, and that's 6,020 more than 2011, people died from the disease, according to the National Cancer Institute. Two million people are diagnosed with skin cancer in the US each year, according to the EPA's Sun-Wise Program. That's more than breast, colon, lung and prostate cancer cases combine! Now however, a recently published study suggests that those people with ginger hair and fair complexions face a much higher risk of developing dead skin cancer even if they are completely protected.

What are tha tha symstoms for stds for man?

    • ANSWER:
      TADoc.org Function Index
STD Symptoms, Pictures and Treatment Guide
Herpes HIV Chlamydia Hepatitis HPV Syphilis Gonorrhea
(Warning: This site contains medical photos that might be offensive to some)

      Herpes (HSV)

      Symptoms
      - Blisters, sores on genital area- Sores on lips, tongue
      - Pain or burning while urinating

There are two kinds of herpes. HSV-1 causes cold sores and fever blisters on the mouth but can be spread to the genitals; HSV-2 is usually on the genitals but it can be spread to the mouth.

Nearly two-thirds of people who are infected with herpes don’t even realize it. An outbreak can cause red bumps that turn into painful blisters or sores on the vagina, penis, buttocks, thighs, or elsewhere. During the first attack, it can also lead to flu-like symptoms, including fever, headaches, and swollen glands. Symptoms usually appear within two weeks of infection but can take longer in some cases. The first outbreak is usually more severe than later recurrences.

What it is: Viral infection of the genital area and/or around the mouth.

      How many get it
About 1 million new cases each year; an estimated 45 million cases already exist.

      How it's spread
By touching an infected area or having unprotected vaginal, oral, or anal intercourse. Warning: some people may be contagious even when they don’t have symptoms.

      Treatment
There is no cure. An antiviral drug can help the pain and itching and also reduce the frequency of recurrent outbreaks.

      Possible consequences
Recurrent sores (the virus lives in the nerve roots and keeps coming back), as well as increased risk of HIV infection. Transmission of herpes to newborns is rare. Most mothers with a history of herpes have normal vaginal deliveries. However, an infant who gets herpes can become very ill, so some precautions are adviced

  49. QUESTION:
Is it legal to have a pet monkey in Ohio?

    • ANSWER:
      No
      Here's why:

So You Want A Pet "Monkey?" Did You Know:

      1. Prosimians, monkeys, apes and humans are all primates. We share many characteristics and we share diseases. As our closest relatives, non-human primates can transmit mild to highly dangerous diseases to their owners, their owners' family and friends. Diseases like the common cold, internal parasites, hepatitis A, tuberculosis and even the often fatal Herpes B virus.

      2. Non-human primate ownership can be regulated at the local, state or national level. Even if legal at the state level, numerous cities and counties have made it against the law to keep pet primates; illegal possession can result in fines and confiscation of the innocent victim, your pet.

      3. To be made into a "pet," baby primates are taken away from their mothers when only hours or days old. Evolved to have continual (24 hr/day) body contact with their moms, infant primates are left to hug towels or stuffed animals. Depression is not restricted to human primates, these infants and mothers typically suffer depression from the forced separation.

      4. Infant females taken away from their mothers' care don't develop the parental skills necessary to raise their own young. A vicious cycle of rejected infants that must be raised by humans in order to physically survive is started.

      5. Primates are social. Under natural conditions they live in social groups and have constant companionship. Now think about the number of minutes per day you spend with other pets such as a dog. Thirty minutes? Two hours? Primates need more, much more. Once the decision has been made to remove the infant primate from its mother's care in order for it to become Your pet, You become its social life. Planning to have a job, go out with friends, see a movie, shop? Continuing to lead your normal life and leaving your pet to spend the majority of its day alone is both unnatural and inhumane.

      6. Given good care and proper nutrition, non-human primates can lead very long lives. Twenty five to 30 years is not unusual for the smaller species while macaques, baboons and spider monkeys can easily reach 40 and apes can live to be 55 years old. A high school senior who buys an infant macaque can get a job, get married, raise a family and become a grandparent before the pet macaque dies of natural causes. Most people are not able to make that type of life-long commitment to a domestic pet yet alone a challenging exotic pet.

      7. Once they reach sexual maturity, non-human primates become more unpredictable and dangerous. Even small primates are deceptively strong and all primates have damaging canines. Gentle one minute, they can inflict severe wounds when suddenly frightened, surprised, confused or frustrated. Owners are often shocked and feel betrayed. Believing they should not risk further aggression, responsible owners typically make the decision to reduce contact with the pet.

      8. Non-human primates that become emotionally bonded to their owners, a trait that pleases and is encouraged by the master, can become jealous and attack visiting family, friends, neighbors, new boy/girlfriend or even the mailman. Owners can be held responsible for resulting medical bills and may be subject to lawsuits. Vacations could be out of the picture; finding a qualified caretaker who is accepted by the pet primate and willing to risk chance of being bitten may prove impossible.

      9. Many small animal veterinarians do not want to accept the risk of injury or disease transmission and will not treat non-human primates. Additionally, few have the training to provide expert care.

      10. Non-human primates are intelligent, curious and active. Unless caged, they can destroy furniture, curtains and any household decorations. They can throw their food around and easily rip off their diapers and soil the house.

      11. Tired of dealing with the array of problems caused by pet primate ownership, most owners end up wanting to get rid of their pet. Lacking infant appeal, adult non-human primates are difficult to place. They may be transferred from inadequate to bad to worse homes, bought by an animal dealer or sent to an animal auction, shot or euthanized. Exotic animal sanctuaries are at capacity, zoos don't have the space for former pets. Rarely is the story ending a happy one.

      12. Baby primates raised to adulthood by humans have not acquired all the necessary social skills to live with others of their own kind. If an owner is able to convince a sanctuary or roadside zoo to take his pet, integrating the imprinted primate into a peer group can be life threatening. Sending inappropriate signals to its new and strange companions, the former pet can be harassed, intimidated, and even attacked. If accepted, ex-pets can nevertheless remain social outcasts, individuals who through no fault of their own are caught between two worlds and can't live successfully in either. Neurotic behavior and depression are common consequences.

      13. You may be the best pet-primate owner in the world, but by purchasing an infant primate, you are perpetuating a business that leads to miserable lives for many of the very animals you profess to adore.
