Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What is the effect of Keratin treatments on curly frizzy hair?
I have curly, frizzy hair and I'd like to try a Keratin treatment to smooth the frizz. However, I don't want to lose my curl or the body. Will the Keratin treatment make my hair straight and limp? Or will I still be able to achieve curly styles?

    • ANSWER:
I wouldn't recommend them. There are many brands of hair straightening out there and they call them anyway they want to get your attention. Coco is another name brand. Some Japanese hair straightening processes can damage the hair and leave it flat and lifeless.
None is better than the other.

Keratin are not approved by the FDA. Visit their website & search for it in their web. If you're thinking about the Brazilian treatment, there's a danger about using formaldehyde, a chemical that causes cancer. The FDA does not restrict the use of that chemical in cosmetics.

Relaxers are for permanent, but they are damaging to hair.

Go to the FDA website & type in permanent or relaxers so you understand what are the side effects.

      Here's the newest news:
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently seized tens of thousands of bottles of "Rio" hair relaxer products after determining they can cause severe hair loss or turn hair green.
      http://blog.taragana.com/business/2010/0…

The FDA last month warned consumers not to use "Rio Hair Naturalizer Systems," a product imported from Brazil and sold through television infomercials by World Rio Corp. of Los Angeles.

The official complaints against hair straightening products range from serious hair breakage and hair damage to serious scalp burns that may require an emergency room visit.
Example of what one suffering severe hair loss after Japanese Hair Straightening from YA HAIR:

In the shower I lose clumps after shampooing and conditioning.
Bald spots are showing up in my hair.
I used to have beautiful thick hair, ho can I get it back?

Another ex: I used to have very curly, beautiful hair..and then i got it chemically straightened..DONT DO IT! when it started growing out, it was mess and even more difficult to work with than before. and once it was completely grown out, my hair was no longer curly..it is now this aweful wavy mess, and only certain spots are still curly.

I know hair. I have 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80's & 90's. I've known people in their 30's whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70's.

  2. QUESTION:
Is there an at home keratin hair treatment to smooth instead of straighten curly hair?
Hiya, I was wondering if anyone knew of a DIY at home keratin hair treatment that will make my curly hair sleek and frizz free whilst retaining a bit of my curl, all of the keratin treatments I can find only seem to straighten hair, and I think I'd miss my curls too much if I had 5 months of straight hair!

    Thanks very much

    • ANSWER:
Keraspa shampoo and conditioner works wonders for my hair. It makes it super soft and doesn't straighten it.

  3. QUESTION:
How does the brazilian keratin hair treatment work? should I get it?
I have very tight curly hair that is frizz prone. My sister got the japanese relaxing treatment done but she still has to flat iron her hair every day and it looks pretty damaged. I want to know if anyone has gotten the brazilian keratin treatment done, how it works, how it turns out, whether or not you have to flat iron every day, about how much it costs, and how you rate it. Thank you so much!

    • ANSWER:

ITS IMPORTANT TO READ ABOUT THE VERY SERIOUS HEALTH RISKS: "Stylists and clients often wear gas masks or other protective equipment and still may feel the ill effects of this potentially fatal gas. Brazilian treatment often contains high concentrations of formaldehyde, a cancer-causing chemical."

"Brazilian Keratin Treatments aren't dangerous only to the stylist. It is theorized that repeated treatments will cause formaldehyde buildup in the hair, releasing formaldehyde fumes every time a patron blow dries or hot-irons her hair. There has been at least one documented death from the treatment."

"Its major ingredient is formaldehyde, which is classified as a human carcinogen by the International Agency on research for Cancer, part of the World Health Organization. In short, it can cause cancer. The solution contains 10 times more than the 0.2 % that is determined to be safe by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel, a group of scientists and doctors who assess and set recommended safety standards for cosmetics ingredients."

  4. QUESTION:
Is there any hair treatment similar to the Shinalator in the book The Help?
Other than the Brazilian Blowout or keratin treatments. I have curly hair like Emma Stone's in the movie and I loved the way it looked after the treatment, so I was wondering if there's any real way to get results like that at home?

    • ANSWER:
Google Salon Hair Dye Lawsuits. About About 336,000 results (0.17 seconds)
When it comes to hair care treatments, product use or visits to a salon or spa, the consumer must take responsibility to do their homework and be aware of all the risks involved.

The hair industry is a billion dollar business, they sell products that cleans & condition the hair. They also sell products that damage and causes hair loss. They also DO NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'. Mechanical, chemical, or thermal styling. Hair straighteners and relaxers top the hair products pose the greatest risks. Hair relaxers, related products marketed heavily to African-American women, are dangerous because they may contain powerful chemicals such as lye, a toxic substance also used in drain cleaners.

Hair straighteners are known as hair relaxers, keratin treatments and hair-smoothing products. They work by breaking and reforming the chemical bonds in keratin, which is the main protein that gives shape to each hair.

Past users of the product have complained of sore throat, skin irritation, headaches, chest pain and rashes, among other symptoms. That may have something to do with the fact that the levels of formaldehyde found in the product rival those typically used in funeral embalming. That’s a lot of formaldehyde.
Reps for the company swear it’s all a misunderstanding. And the product labels itself “no formaldehyde” and “formaldehyde free.” The company has until September 12 to get its affairs in order, or risk having its product seized by the FDA. “We have been tested countless times by OSHA,” the company’s CEO Mike Brady told NPR. “And we have never exceeded a safety standard ever.” Right now, they are fighting with the FDA, but will continue to give what customers want,. Buyer beware!
Hair-straightening products are allowed to contain small concentrations of formaldehyde (0.2 percent). But several hair-straightening solutions have been found to contain well above the allowable limit. For example, one popular hair-straightening product that advertised itself as “formaldehyde-free” actually contained 6.8 percent to 11.8 percent formaldehyde.

BTW: A variety of hair-straightening products used in professional salons can expose both hairdressers and their customers to formaldehyde. The results show that three professional hair-smoothing treatments labeled "formaldehyde free" can produce the cancer-causing chemical at concentrations above the occupational exposure limits set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. They tested four products: Coppola Keratin Complex Blonde Formula, Global Keratin Juvexin Optimized Functional Keratin, La Brasiliana Escluso Keratin Treatment with Collagen, and Brazilian Blowout Acai Professional Smoothing Solution. While ChemRisk tested four popular brands of hair straighteners, there are hundreds on the market. Nov. 11-11

My friend showed me a jeegol tension comb that made my hair straight as I flat Ironed with no products at all.

Recently got a keratin treatment and i dont know what to do?
Okay, so i have pretty curly hair. (not ringlets more like S shaped). My hair has always been very frizzy. So despite the cost, i went for the Brazilian Keratin treatment. I'll admit the treatment helped alot with the frizz, but my hair still doesnt look very good when i just let it dry. I know it wasnt supposed to make my hair strait, but i was hoping for the results to be a little more noticeable. Do you have any styling tips and products that would help me do my hair so i didnt feel like my keratin treatment was a waste?

  11. QUESTION:
How can I get my naturally curly/frizzy roots to go straighter?
I naturally have really curly hair like in between 3A and 3B curls. But I had a keratin treatment done a year and a half ago and somehow it had a really long term effect on my hair and now it's like wavy and dead straight at the ends but the roots still look really curly and horrible and they're hard to manage. When I straighten my roots with a flat iron they just stick up and look weird but the rest of my hair lies nice and straight, how can I get more manageable, straighter roots that won't frizz? I don't mind using heat as long as I don't literally kill my hair with a straightener.

    • ANSWER:
try a blow out. blow dry your hair while using a brush to pull it straight.

  12. QUESTION:
How can I get straight hair without using any damaging chemicals for cheap?
I have naturally curly hair that even when I straighten it is extremely THICK! It is as thick as a horses hair(maybe more thick).I want to be able to have straight hair with always having to straighten it.I don't have enough money to get the keratin treatments and stuff like that.I also heard treatments like Brazilian blowouts actually have chemicals that cause breathing problems, itchy eye,and cancer. Is there anything that can help that actually works?

    • ANSWER:
DO NOT TRY TREATMENTS it is not healthy for your hair and when you get older your gonna have to wear a wig, i would try a jeegol tension comb - that way there are no chemicals in my hair. It grabs my hair tight when I am straightening. I also have thick afican hair but it does the job.

  13. QUESTION:
Is the Keratin treatment ok for your hair?
I have curly hair. They're more loose curls but I have extremely thick hair. It's so hard to comb and manage. I go through products so fast and it's too expensive to keep buying hair products. I want to get the keratin treatment. I'm afraid it's bad for your hair though. Is it safe? Will it damage my hair? & when the treatments done, will my hair be the same amount of curliness as before? Because I love my curls but I'd rather have easy to manage straight hair.

  14. QUESTION:
What are the effects of a keratin hair treatment?
Naturally, I have curly/wavy hair that is really frizzy, and sometimes I don't like to use heat. I use socks to enhance my curls, braid it and and leave it in overnight, etc. and in the summer time it is impossible to straighten my hair. When I do, it's really puffy and some parts are still wavy. I've been interested in a keratin treatment, but I still want the ability to wear my hair curly/wavy without a curling iron. Any suggestions?

  15. QUESTION:
What do you know about the Keratin hair treatment?
I have extremely thick, long and super curly hair! It's a nightmare, and I can never wear it out without looking like a lion, even on a good hair day! My dream is to be able to wear my hair down and have it look great! I'm interested in the keratin hair treatment, but I'm not entirely sure what happens. I know it's good for straightening your hair, but how does it look 'natural'?

    • ANSWER:
yea i got it 3 months ago and while i had it for 3 moths it was FANTASTIC!.......its a little pricey its about 300 dollars....GET IT YOU WONT REGRET IT....you have to get it re done every three months but if you have dyed your hair before you might have to get it sooner
      hope this helped

  16. QUESTION:
what is the least damaging to do to your hair?
i have naturally super curly hair. (i am 1/4 white and 3/4 black) i straighten my hair every day because i cant stand my natural hair. the ends of my hair are starting to split and im thinking of getting like a straight perm or like a japanese straightening. i just wanna know which treatment out of like all the hair straightening treatments is the least damaging and will keep my hair straight. by the way i have gotten the brazilian keratin treatment already. please help!

    • ANSWER:
Well a japanese straightening is damaging, but honestly you cannot tell. If your hair is already really dry/frizzy/damaged it might now be such good idea, but my hairdresser had it done, and she had pretty curly hair, and it got really straight and there wasn't any split ends or so. Just don't dye it afterwards...

If you want to straighten your hair with a flattening iron, then use a heat protector (they come in oils, sprays etc) I can recommend Redken Smooth Down Heat-Glide....they work!

  17. QUESTION:
Is the keratin treatment permanent plz help?
I had beautiful thick curly hair I use to be nicknamed ruby from hollyoaks because apparently she's my twin :L I got the treatment awhile back now I've washed my hair twice with normal shampoo and its still not as curly as it always is how do I reverse the keratin treatment?

  18. QUESTION:
Is the Keratin Hair Treatment by Coppola a good idea for me?
I recently went to an Ulta salon to have my hair done, and the stylist said that the new Keratin hair treatment would be good for my type of hair. I have very fine curly hair that is noticeably thin in some parts and she said it would make my hair looks thicker. Is this true or will it look worse?

    • ANSWER:
the treatment could be beneficial to your hair routine. it smooths out the hair and gets rid of any frizz and uncontrollable curls. but since you state that your hair is thin, my suggestion would be to keep it that way because then your hair could turn out flat. no, the keratin treatment by no means does not make hair any thicker, it will make the hair stronger though, the protein will make the hair a lot less breakable. however if you want to try the product, it is not damaging to the hair and it only last for 6 months, by then the treatment would be gone and your hair will be back in it's natural state.

  19. QUESTION:
What age can you get a Brazilian keratin hair treatment?
I am 13 years old, blonde curly hair which is very thick and frizzy
I only want it for special occasions like holidays with the family, or trips to farce with the school when I go in the pool. I thought if my hair was straight I wouldn't take hours getting ready and stressing before going out! So how old do I have to be to get a Brazilian keratin hair treatment. I know it only lasts for about 6 months but still.

  20. QUESTION:
How can I stop my forehead sweat from ruining my bangs?
When my forehead sweats the sweat gets on my bangs and starts to curl them, how can I stop this from happening?? I'll try ANYTHING!! (I have naturally curly hair with a keratin treatment)

    • ANSWER:
I'm growing out my bangs now, but i used to have thick and heavy ~scene kid~ bangs. I put deodorant on my forehead all the time, lol. It works, I did it while doing martial arts. And trust me, you sweat a lot.

  21. QUESTION:
What brazilian keratin treatment should I use at home?
I want to do a brazilian keratin treatment, but am not going to pay 0 for someone in a salon to do what I am perfectly capable of doing myself. Problem is I don't know which one to buy, and where to buy it since most are for "professionals only" I have SUPER thick SUPER curly frizzy crappy hair, so I need the good stuff.

What is the best treatment, and where can I buy it?

(I know it is terrible for your health, but my hair is so bad I would do anything to make it look even remotely normal for once in my life. Skip the lectures please)
Thanks for the info! I know it won't make my hair straight or anything, I usually straighten it so if it helps that even be a little faster or make it a tad smother I'd be ok with that... especially with summer coming up, I usually have to put in in a bun to keep it from going crazy from the humidity (live at the beach in NC, 100% humidity!)

Which is less damaging: Brazilian Keratin Treatment or Japanese Hair Straightening?
I got a curly perm about 3 weeks ago, but it damaged my hair and a lot of it is falling out. My hair is already thin, and now its a big frizzy poof, and I don't know what to do. The curls didnt come out at all. My hair is naturally straight. Which would be less damaging and more beneficial the Brazilian Keratin Treatment or the Japanese Hair straightening? Thanks!

      Brazilian Keratin for sure.

  24. QUESTION:
Should I thin out or Keratin treat my daughters curly hair?
Ok so lets just get something clear I'm not talking slightly curly or wavy, I mean break your brush in it "extreme curly hair". My mom suggested thinning the hair in a salon and my boss suggested Keratin treatment. I have never done Keratin so I don't know how it works. But it is expensive so I want to make sure it is not just going to make the hair shiny and leave it super curly (that is of no use to me). I want her hair to be manageable and soft and not to look like a 1970's fro from hell!!! Please help with advise.

  25. QUESTION:
How to get volume after straightening?
I have naturally very curly hair and I get the brazilian keratin treatment every few months. It's supposed to make it easier to straighten, but when I do it's always really thin and flat against my head and i want more volume and body. My hair doesn't tease well and I want to avoid using too many products because my hair gets a lot of buildup near the roots and underneath.. is there any way to get it fuller and less 'heavy'?

    • ANSWER:
I bought an iron that came with a styling CD. It said that to get volume you should pull your hair up and out and iron it that way; don't iron your hair down, but up and out. It's all in the technique. Also, don't use lots of products or heavy products because those will weigh down your hair.

  26. QUESTION:
What are safe hair straightening options?

I have heard the keratin treatment has harmful chemicals in it and cancer runs in my family so I do not want to increase my chances. So right now I am out of options. I hate my hair, I have to wear it back everyday because it is too ugly to wear out.

Kerastase is the best make out there is not cheap but it is absaloutly fantastic and does exactly what it says it will I can not recommend these more, I have used salon and drug store stuff and this made my hair is super condition.
      Shampoo- Bain Oleo Curl
      Conditioner - Oleo curl Intense
if you wanna keep your hair curly if you just want to strenghten then use
      Shampoo - Bain de Force
      Conditioner - Ciment Anti Usure

As for keratin treatments an at home one is - forcintense
and an in salon one is - Vita Ciment and the Topseal

It is recommended to have the in salon one first then have the home treatments but I swear they are lovely and worth the money and with the shampoos and conditioners you only need to use a tiny bit so they go along way.

  35. QUESTION:
Is the Brazilian Keratin Treatment good for your hair?
My brother is a hair stylist and I haven't put any relaxer on my hair in about a year. We want to try the brazilian keratin treatment for my hair as a straightener.
And is it good for african american hair?

    • ANSWER:
Yes that one is amazing! My mom had really poofy, frizzy, curly hair and she used it. Now all she has to do is blow dry her hair for 2 min with a round brush, and its perfectly straight and shiny! It's great :)

  36. QUESTION:
How does the Brazilian keratin treatment work?
I want to know how successful this treatment is. If it works terrific I'd like to try it. I know its expensive but if works I'd do anything to straighten my curly hair which can very often be a pain.
How long does it last for?
What are all the steps to the treatment?
Can it really make your hair fall out? (happened to a women I know)
What products would help to maintain it?
Is there anything else you can tell me about it?
    Thank you!

    • ANSWER:
Yes it absolutely works!!! The keratin my stylist used was O.K Keratin, (it also smelled really good!)
It lasted for 7-8 months for me but i took really good care of my hair.
What the stylist does is cleanse your hair than puts in the Keratin, then they flat iron your hair with the keratin in it.
My hair didn't fall out at all...
My stylist told me to use a shampoo and conditioner without sodium chloride (table salt) and I purchased it at my local ULTA. It was kind of pricey but it was totally worth it!
I have wavy hair and really short layers so my layers flipped in at out all over the place! the keratin really help relax my hair while my layers grew out. And because you have curly hair, the keratin will really help to straighten it out. It also helps frizziness. Hope I helped!!!

  37. QUESTION:
How can i remove my keratin treatment fast and safe?
I got a keratin treatment in october and its been 6 months and my hair is not back to normal which is curly. Its like in a wavy state now and I want my curls back please help me I want to remove the keratin and I am afraid to do a curl perm or should I try the curl perm? Idk what to do help please

    • ANSWER:
It's permanent, they should have already been gone by 6 months.

Chemicals on top of another chemical is not really good for the hair, specially permed hair.

Google Permanently straightening hair warning, about 7,410,000 results (0.08 seconds) , more warnings during the last month. I've been posting about them since 2009. Canada had issued a public health warning regarding Brazilian Blowout and has stopped the distribution of their salon product; Ireland has also issued a recall. ~ Also published in Vogue Feb. 2011.

  38. QUESTION:
What is your hair like after the Brazilian Keratin treatment?
I have very thick curly hair, and am getting the treatment done tomorrow

    • ANSWER:
you are not supposed to wash it for 3 or 4 days but after that your hairwill be less frizzy and itwill take less time to do your hair!
I sell the Brazilian Keratin called Lisse it is amazing!
mine has 5% formaldehyde so it works best on very curly and damaged hair

  39. QUESTION:
How to get rid of the keratin treatment out of your hair?
I got it done in the beginning of September. A lot has worn off. (I have naturally curly hair) its now wavy but when its wet and i let it air dry, you can see my grown in curly hair while rest is wavy, but some parts are still straight. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process of it wearing off? I have been using sodium products.

    Thanks :)

    • ANSWER:
well if you had the COPPOLA Keratin Treatment, you shouldn't have a regrowth line.. it slowly fades out of the hair.. unless you had a perm, or a relaxer, again, there shouldn't be a line of demarcation from the new hair growing in. typically the keratin treatment only lasts about 3-5 months.. tops. so technically it shouldn't still be in your hair.
you can use regular shampoo, anything that says it's sodium chloride free, or sulfate free will help to KEEP the treatment in.. so buying using shampoo/conditioner that has those in it will get rid of the treatment.. also you could try a clarifying shampoo.
good luck & always consult with your stylist for concern/questions.

  40. QUESTION:
How to make really curly hair permanently straight without flat iron?
So I have really curly hair, and I always have to use a flat iron, I tried using a perm a long time ago, and it worked for like a month or two but it fried my hair as well, and I still had to flat iron it cause it was thick. I really want permanently straight hair so I dont have t have the hassle of straightening it everytime I want to go somewhere, is there anyway I can do this? Please Answer.

    • ANSWER:
A perm would fry your hair if its not thick enough. Also if you dye your hair a perm would kill it pretty good aswell... and burn it off if you dont get all the dye out..

That said, there is actually different perms for different people. You may look into that more.

Your talking permanently strait hair... and that really is the closest it gets.

If you refuse because you still want hair to go along with it... i suggest blow drying your hair directly after a shower, which will give it more volume. Make sure to use volume shampoo aswell. And then you want to straiten it with a flat iron.

Another option is hairspray, and hair jell... hairspray will keep it strait, just stiff... and jell works great with a short haircut.

The other way i know is to get over your female fear of a wig, realize a ton of woman with curly hair wear them... and go out and buy one. Every black woman in the world wears them, white woman need to start too. If they want perfect hair again. Seriously just look them up and you might be happy... might not... but its worth a look, plus you suggest its "just for going out" which would benefit your cause.

And lastly, you could always just look up more curly hairstyles that suit your needs better. There are so many... who needs strait hair?

Adding to the latest post, keratin treatment is a good one that is good for your hair. Its ridiculously overpriced and lasts about 4 months. 300-500 dollars Luckily touch ups are only 85-125

Do not thermal detonate your hair... ever... permanent straitening is a foolish choice... even Gorge Bush would not nuke America. Your roots will grow in and youll just be pissed all over again... and its going to murder your hair...

And rebonding hair.. as the name suggests is more for after you thermal detonate it... that's why its another 500 dollar treatment...

  41. QUESTION:
What are good salon alternatives to the keratin hair treatment?
I have fairly brittle and very frizzy, curly hair that's in between thick and thin. I'd like a lasting salon treatment (at least 2 months) to get rid of the frizz and I was wondering what other options are out there aside from the brazilian blowout. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
honestly, you can try a dominican blowout. It's not as long lasting as a keratin treatment. Or a relaxer which basically straightens your hair. What I would say is that it is harder to get rid of and could be damaging. If you need to know how to do a dominican blowout just go google it. It's inexpensive at the salons. I pay 20 dollars for mines.

  42. QUESTION:

Can my hair grow even with a straightening treatment already in my hair?
I have very frizzy curly hair and my hair is medium length ,I want to grow it up to my belly button.I have been considering get a straightening treatment such as keratin to make my hair straight so I won't have to put any heat on my hair. However I don't want my hair to be damaged and not grow.please help!

    • ANSWER:
I have the same type of hair as you and I got it relaxed a few years ago. I'm not sure if your hair could actually grow that long and still be healthy as it is important to get your hair trimmed about 3 times a year if adding a chemical. But if right now your hair grows quickly then I don't see why the chemical will stop hair growth :)

  44. QUESTION:

  45. QUESTION:
A few years after the brazilian keratin treatment. How has it been working out for you?
I've heard that some people suffered from hair-loss and dry, brittle hair after using it for a few years. I've been using it for almost 2 years and my hair looks lovely! So what's your experience with the brazilian keratin treatment? And do you think it could harm my hair on the long run? I use the chemical free treatment.

    • ANSWER:
Yes it is amazing! I had really poofy, frizzy, curly hair and I got the treatment last year. Now all I have to do is blow dry my hair for 2 min with a round brush, and its perfectly straight and shiny! It's great :)
& all "Keratin" is is protein. So it shouldn't harm your hair(mine is doing great, no split ends or anything) But if it has "Formaldehyde" in it then DON'T use it anymore!
I have the organic Keratin, and it works just as good(& maybe even better?)

  46. QUESTION:
Is a hair keratin treatment better if it has more keratin?
In the new keratin hair treatments like the Brazilian Blowout and Global Keratin products, is it better to use one that has 2% or 5% hydrolyzed keratin? Is the 5% good for your hair, or is it enough to cause breakage?

    • ANSWER:
Keratin hair treatments with different compositions are formulated to suit different hair types and requirements. If your hair is very curly or frizzy then you can go for higher compositions. More than keratin it is based on the formaldehyde content.

For example Global Keratin has four different compositions which are

Keratin Hair Treatment with 2% Formaldehyde works great on colored, bleached, relaxed and highlighted hair. It will make your hair soft, shiny, healthy and straight (straight 100% if your hair is not extremely curly or virgin). It is recommended for all hair types.

Keratin Hair Treatment with 4% Formaldehyde is recommended for virgin, very curly and afro hair. The additional Formaldehyde content will make your hair totally straight, sleek and conditioned. However this product is not suggested unless your hair is extremely curly or virgin and curly.

For those preferring to stay away from formaldehyde there is a Formaldehyde Free product. This treatment absolutely does not contain Formaldehyde. It is suitable for clients who are looking to soften their curls or waves and make their hair healthy and shiny. Depending on the hair type it will also provide some straightening. However it works best on previously chemically treated hair. This treatment is formulated with keratin complex and Silica which act with high effectiveness to leave the hair lustrous, manageable and hydrated.

Lastly there is also a Keep the Curl treatment. This product does not contain formaldehyde and does not straighten the hair. It is recommended for people who want to keep their curl but close the cuticles. In general it keeps the hair healthy.

so based on your needs you can choose the product. Remember to use keratin based shampoos and conditioners after the treatment. they should be essentially sodium chloride free to increase the longevity of the treatment.

Checkout Global Keratin's line of effective aftercare products like deep conditioner and clarifying shampoo.

Keratin in general is the primary protein of hair and it will not cause hair breakage. It will only make it healthy and strong.

  47. QUESTION:
What are good ways to get curly hair moisturized and shiny?
I have curly hair that can be hard to manage at times and is on the short side. I did do a texturizer on my hair several times where I get my hair done and it's straight on some parts and curly on others now. It doesn't look bad but I would like it if it had more moisture and it was less poofy. I wouldn't describe my hair as kinky. I comb it with a wide tooth comb if that helps. Thank you for answering!

    • ANSWER:
You can use an argan oil from the pro naturals brand to tame the frizz and make your hair smoother and softer. That helps, or you can get the cocoa keratin hair treatment as a long term solution since that stuff loosens up your hair and gets rid of frizz for like months. Its online too, whatever works better for you but both options work.

  48. QUESTION:
How to straighten curly hair on guys without a straightener?

Is there a way I can effectively straighten it without a straightener? I have gel and a blowdryer just not a straightener.

    • ANSWER:
try try one of those hair straightening treatments to do it at home, I use cocoa keratin brazilian hair smoothing treatment system and it worked pretty good, it leaves the hair soft, frizz less and straight.

  49. QUESTION:
Should I get the Keratin treatment on my hair?
I have very curly hair, and I love it.
But I find it way more easier to work with my hair when it's straight or wavy. I also really like the look!
How long does this treatment last? Will I ever get my natural curls back?
